He’s everywhere: Nathan Fillion’s Guy Gardner pops up in more DCU projects than anyone else

Right, time for another update from the ever-tangled world of the DCU, where familiar faces keep cropping up whether you ask for them or not. This round, it’s Nathan Fillion talking about why his take on Guy Gardner (aka That Green Lantern With The Bowl Cut) seems to be popping up all over the shop in James Gunn’s DC universe. If you’ve lost track, you’re not alone — the man’s suddenly everywhere, and Fillion himself has a few thoughts about why that is.

In a chat with Screen Rant, Fillion got onto the subject of his stretch as Guy Gardner across multiple DCU projects — with his usual dry sense of humour. He’s keen to keep hold of the gig as long as possible, thanks very much. Here’s how he put it to them during that interview:

To me, that means there’s a chance that maybe I’ll continue to be employed throughout my twilight years. That’s my hope, at least.

Under all the banter, though, Fillion sees a purpose in Gardner’s repeated appearances. He likes the idea that Guy is more than just a recurring face — that he’s almost a fixture, a bit like the furniture in Gunn’s new DC era. In his words, Guy works as “the connective tissue” tying this sprawling universe together. Think of him as that thread running through the DCU tapestry, popping up just often enough that you never quite forget him — even if you’d like to. Ever the showman, Fillion reckons Gardner would appreciate the attention (and the branding opportunity) too, pointing out with some amusement that Guy understands the power of a personal brand, almost as much as the heroes he shares screen time with.

Where Fillion Appears (and Where Next)

So, where exactly have we seen Fillion’s Guy Gardner, and where is he ominously looming next? Here’s the short answer, since it’s getting hard to keep a running tally:

• First up, Superman (2025), James Gunn’s film, is where Fillion debuts as this version of Guy.
• He rocks up again in Peacemaker Season 2.
• He’s lately become a regular fixture on the new animated show Mister Miracle (don’t blink, you’ll miss him — but yes, apparently, he’s there).
• And most recently: Fillion returned as Guy in HBO Max’s Lanterns, which started streaming on 16 August 2026.
• Looking ahead, he’s already booked in for Man of Tomorrow (the next Superman film), due out 9 July 2027.

If you’re wondering about his credentials: Fillion wasn’t entirely new to the Green Lantern business, either. Before all this, he spent a decent spell voicing Hal Jordan in a laundry list of animated DC Universe flicks, including Green Lantern: Emerald Knights, Justice League: Doom, and The Death of Superman. The man’s worked his way up to on-screen Lantern, so give him that, at least.
