MGM+ just ended the guessing game on From’s future. The streamer has revealed whether Season 5 is moving ahead or getting the axe for the sci‑fi horror about a town you can enter but never escape.

Well, MGM+ has finally put an end to the rumour mill about From, that oddball sci-fi horror show where nobody can ever leave the world’s worst town. In a move that should surprise absolutely no one given how much the series has built up its labyrinth of nightmares, Season 5 has officially got the green light—but the trade-off is, that’s the last stop for the residents and their ever-escalating parade of monsters. Expect more answers, more spiders, and, if we know this show, even less hope for a normal ride home.

Heading Into the Final Chapter

Just to be clear, From isn’t getting the axe mid-sentence. The show—starring Harold Perrineau and shot up in Halifax on its very own purpose-built ‘From Town’ set—has been renewed by MGM+ for a fifth and final run. Not a cancellation, more of a controlled landing.

If you’ve avoided the buzz somehow: the town in From is every parent’s fever dream of why you shouldn’t take the scenic route. Entry’s a doddle; escape is a total non-starter, especially after dark when all manner of unsavoury creatures prefer their snacks slow and poorly prepared. The whole place is crawling with night terrors—cicadas, spiders, plenty of mysterious goings-on in the trees.

Why Bow Out Now? The Creators Explain

Bit of an odd move, you might think, since From is apparently the top-rated thing on Amazon’s MGM+. You’d assume they’d drag it out until numbers crater or everyone’s run out of ideas. But according to John Griffin—the bloke who dreamt the whole thing up—this was the plan all along. Or at least, they claim it was.

Griffin admits there was 'a fair amount of soul-searching', and for a moment the temptation was there to tack on a sixth season for themselves 'because it’s just too hard to say goodbye'. Ultimately, though, they preferred to stick the landing with a plotted ending instead of letting the mystery turn into something no one cares about (see also: half the TV shows from the last decade).

As for timing, Griffin reckons it’s bang on: five seasons, arc completed. Apparently, Jim’s death in Series 3 felt like a natural close to act one, and Season 4 set up the grand finale. The whole story has played out exactly how they envisioned, thanks, in no small part, to the higher-ups at MGM+ actually letting them finish what they started.

What Happens Next?

  • Season 4 started its run back in April 2026 and, at last, threw viewers a few proper answers in amongst the chaos.
  • Writers are already hard at work on Season 5, and filming is due to kick off this summer up in Halifax (still the only From Town you’ll find in Nova Scotia).
  • At the moment, MGM+ is aiming for a 2027 release, but, predictably, hasn’t put an exact date in the diary just yet.

If you’re keen on seeing this twisted story reach a proper ending, at least now there’s a finish line in sight—not always a given with genre TV these days.
