July 2026 swung the axe across TV, as streamers and networks rolled out cancellations and final-season calls. From MGM+ confirming Forest Whitaker’s Godfather of Harlem is winding down to a slew of other shows getting the hook, here’s every series that wrapped or got its notice this month.

Peak telly season? Not quite. July 2026’s doing the rounds with a stack of final bows and cold-hearted cancellations across streaming and broadcast. Below, all the notable casualties and swan songs from the past few weeks—some real surprises among them, some frankly overdue. Here’s what’s closing up shop and why.

'Godfather of Harlem' Takes the Exit

Forest Whitaker’s crime saga on MGM+ is officially calling it a day—but not with a fifth series. Instead, the show will wrap up the lot with a two-hour finale. Not exactly a common move for American television lately. Production’s firing up on 10 July back on the Brooklyn set, just to give Bumpy Johnson one last hurrah. Whitaker, clearly chuffed about his tenure, said:

'Playing Bumpy Johnson has been one of the greatest experiences of my career.'

He made sure to namecheck everyone—MGM+, Chris Brancato, 20th Television, Amazon, and the cast. If you want to see an actor hanging up the hat well, this is basically it.

'It's Not Like That', Or Apparently, It Is

Prime Video has binned their faith-based family drama after just one series. No warning, just the plug pulled on 7 July. The kicker? Scott Foley and Erinn Hayes led this one, it had a sparkling 100% Rotten Tomatoes score, and it lived in Prime Video’s Top 10 for six weeks. Didn’t matter. Foley took to Instagram, a bit philosophical:

'I got to make a show I'm so proud of with people I grew to like a lot.'

Even with streaming gold-dust like that, it wasn’t enough for renewal. Prime’s criteria remain as cryptic as ever.

BBC Wraps 'Daddy Issues'

One that genuinely shocked a few in the UK: BBC confirmed that 'Daddy Issues' is finishing up after its third run. Led by Aimee Lou Wood and David Morrissey, this became the biggest launch for BBC Three’s comedies since 2022. No big drama about it—Wood said she’s just thrilled to have a final go around with Morrissey and the rest of the team. No scandal, just a proper, scheduled finish.

'Colin From Accounts' Sets Its Farewell

Over in Australia, Harriet Dyer and Patrick Brammall’s rom-com isn’t getting quietly dropped—it’s choosing its own ending after three series. The last batch lands 27 July on Binge and Foxtel On Demand. Brammall’s summary was succinct:

'It feels like the right time for these characters, for this world.'

There’s something refreshing about a scripted farewell—not many these days, truth be told.

More Carnage from Last Month

In case you missed the June headlines, the chopping block didn’t start in July. There was a whole raft axed or given their marching orders: 'The Boroughs', 'Ponies', 'Kevin', 'The Hunting Party', 'Building the Band', and others—none of them making it through to the summer without some drama.

  • Godfather of Harlem (MGM+): Getting a two-hour finale, no season five
  • It's Not Like That (Prime Video): Cancelled after one series
  • Daddy Issues (BBC): Ends with its third series
  • Colin From Accounts (Binge/Foxtel): Wrapping after three series
  • Also out (June): The Boroughs, Ponies, Kevin, The Hunting Party, Building the Band, etc
