Fan-Favorite Pitt Star Joins Lindsay Lohan’s New Hulu Thriller
A The Pitt alum has boarded Hulu’s Count My Lies, joining Lindsay Lohan in a twisty adaptation of Sophie Stava’s novel about a nanny ensnared by a household’s dangerous secrets.
So, there’s another twist coming to Hulu’s upcoming thriller Count My Lies — and it’s not just in the plot. Katherine LaNasa (yep, the Emmy-winner from The Pitt) is joining the cast, which frankly already had me raising an eyebrow thanks to its delightfully odd mix of stars. This show keeps sounding weirder and more interesting the more I hear about it.
The Setup: Wealth, Lies, and Nannies
Count My Lies is based on the debut novel from Sophie Stava and focuses on Sloane Caraway, played by Shailene Woodley. Sloane has a bit of a problem — it’s compulsive lying — and she manages to land a job as a nanny for an annoyingly perfect rich couple, Violet and Jay Lockhart. The Lockharts are played by Lindsay Lohan (yes, that Lindsay Lohan) and Kit Harington (aka Jon Snow, which is hilarious to me).
Things start off seemingly normal, just a big house, big paychecks, big secrets bubbling under the surface. With Sloane’s arrival, cracks open, and let’s just say, you know the wheels are about to come off. As she gets dragged deeper into the Lockhart family storm, nothing is what it seems.
Who’s Who?
- Lindsay Lohan as Violet Lockhart (the rich mom with secrets)
- Kit Harington as Jay Lockhart (the husband — probably has secrets too)
- Shailene Woodley as Sloane Caraway (our messy, lying nanny)
- Katherine LaNasa as Tracy (Sloane’s mother, so you know the family drama is about to double)
Why LaNasa? Well, the woman’s on a roll. She just picked up an Emmy for her role as charge nurse Dana Evans on NBC’s The Pitt (season two just wrapped, in case you’re behind). She’s not ditching that show, since Count My Lies is a limited series — she gets to play in both sandboxes.
You might also recognize her from Truth Be Told, Imposters, or Katy Keene. The point is, she’s everywhere right now.
Behind the Scenes
Here’s the breakdown for anyone who likes to keep track of who’s running the show:
- Based on the novel by Sophie Stava, who’s also a producer (a rare treat — authors rarely get this much say)
- Adapted by Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, who are also co-showrunners and exec producers
- Lohan, Woodley, and Scott Morgan are on board as executive producers, so the cast has skin in the game
- Production handled by 20th Television, under Disney Television Studios (translation: big company, big cash, probably glossy production values)
'LaNasa is set to appear in multiple episodes as Tracy, the mother of Shailene Woodley's character Sloane.'
It’s not every day you get a cast that mixes a child star comeback with fantasy royalty and a serial fabulous liar. Add a newly-minted Emmy winner — and a plot that promises as many secrets behind the camera as in front — and Count My Lies could go from ‘just another thriller’ to ‘wait, what is happening here exactly?’
Anyway, between the pedigree, the stranger-than-fiction casting, and a premise practically begging for chaos, this one is officially on my radar.
