Euphoria Breaks Ratings Records as a Major Character Dies
Euphoria snapped back to life as Season 3’s Episode 7 scored the show’s highest IMDb rating yet, with a shocking character death lighting up social feeds and resetting the stakes ahead of the finale.
If you thought Euphoria had burnt through all its big shocks, think again — the latest episode has turned everything upside down (and, for once this season, people actually seem to love it).
Highest Rated Episode This Season — At Last
Euphoria Season 3's had a bit of a rough ride so far, let's be honest. The premiere limped in with a 6.8 out of 10 on IMDb, which is not exactly the smashing start you’d want for a previously beloved HBO juggernaut. If you compare it to the earlier seasons, Season 2 kicked off with a 9.1, and the very first opener back in Season 1 landed a solid 8.0. This time round, people were very much on the fence — until Episode 7 blew the doors off.
Now, Episode 7 is sitting at an 8.1 on IMDb, making it the season's best-rated episode by some margin. Suddenly there’s a lot more chatter, with fans apparently glued back to their screens for the first time since all the behind-the-scenes drama started spilling onto the internet. All it took, apparently, was a jaw-dropper of a storyline twist...
Nate Jacobs: Out for Good
The focus of all this noise? Nate Jacobs, played by Jacob Elordi, who (brace for spoilers if you’ve been living under a rock) gets not only buried alive by a group of loan sharks, but then — because this show has zero chill — cops a fatal rattlesnake bite on top of it. Subtlety, clearly, is still not Euphoria’s style, but you can’t argue it doesn’t get people talking.
'The penultimate episode generated major discussion online following a shocking character death that dramatically changed the direction of the story ahead of the finale.'
It’s the sort of over-the-top send-off that has fans divided, but if the ratings surge is anything to go by, it’s exactly the shot in the arm the show needed before the finale.
Why All the Fuss Now?
- Episode 7 IMDb rating: 8.1/10 (the highest this season)
- Season 3 premiere: 6.8/10 (lowest opener for the series so far)
- Nate's death: Buried alive and snake bite (because apparently one brutal end wasn’t sufficient)
- Previous premieres: Season 2: 9.1/10, Season 1: 8.0/10
- Finale lands: HBO Max, Sunday 31 May 2026
With one episode left, all eyes are back on Euphoria — from the looks of it, HBO might just have pulled off a last-minute save after that very rocky start.
