Elsbeth Season 4: Will CBS Renew the Quirky Hit or Close the Case?
Elsbeth diehards are refreshing feeds to see if CBS will greenlight another round of the quirky crime-comedy. After a standout Season 3 with Carrie Preston leading the charge, the question looms: renewed for Season 4 or closing the case? Here’s where things stand.
Right, if you’ve been keeping an eye on CBS’s quirky legal comedy-drama Elsbeth, you’ll know it’s built a bit of a cult following. Fans have been champing at the bit, curious whether their favourite oddball attorney is due another outing or if the plug was about to be pulled after three solid series. Here’s where we stand, now that CBS’s people have finally surfaced with an answer.
So, Is Elsbeth Getting a Fourth Series?
Yes – and for once, there’s no faffing about. CBS have officially renewed Elsbeth for Season 4. That means more offbeat legal antics and, presumably, even more cleverly twisted cases for Elsbeth Tascioni to poke her nose into.
The confirmation came in January 2026, well ahead of time, so CBS are clearly keen to keep Elsbeth at the heart of their scripted line-up for at least another year. Honestly, not much of a shock, given Season 3 did the business ratings-wise and the show’s got that niche appeal, both with critics and a stubbornly loyal crowd of fans. Variety even listed it as a lock for the 2026–2027 TV season.
'CBS has officially confirmed the renewal of Elsbeth Season 4, in response to strong audience demand and the show’s ongoing popularity.'
To give credit where it’s due, Elsbeth has been one of the more unusual series in CBS’s recent output. It’s the brainchild of Robert and Michelle King (the duo behind The Good Wife, so you know they can handle a legal soap opera). After establishing itself with three seasons of courtroom wit and street-smart sleuthing, it’s back for more.
What’s the Show Actually About?
- Elsbeth centres on Elsbeth Tascioni (Carrie Preston), a left-field Chicago attorney who’s not exactly your standard courtroom operator.
- In the current run, she’s shipped off to New York – she’s working alongside the NYPD to monitor police conduct (after some dicey arrests led to federal intervention, as you do).
- Elsbeth keeps stumbling into oddball cases and, naturally, gets right to the bottom of them using her own 'unconventional' (read: absolutely bonkers) logic.
If you’re not already hooked, the cast might do it for you. Alongside Preston, you’ve got Carra Patterson, the ever-reliable Wendell Pierce, plus Danny McCarthy, Fredric Lehne, Gloria Reuben and Molly Price. It’s a nicely stacked ensemble, with each of them adding something – be it comic timing, gravitas, or both.
Where to Watch (or Catch Up)?
If you’re itching to binge from the start or just need a refresh, Elsbeth Series 1 to 3 are all present and correct on Paramount+, and they’ve aired on CBS as well. So, plenty of time to get up to speed on every whimsical legal twist before the new episodes land.
If you like your procedural drama with a heavy dash of eccentric humour – and if you don’t mind a hero who’s basically allergic to playing things by the book – you’ll want to keep Elsbeth on your radar. Season 4 is officially coming, so there’s no need to panic-scroll renewal rumours for at least another year.
