Done waiting for Mayor of Kingstown? Season 5 finally has a date
Taylor Sheridan’s Mayor of Kingstown is bowing out with Season 5 — and Paramount+ has set the date.
If you’ve somehow missed the news during the chaos of autumn telly, Paramount+ has decided to call time on Mayor of Kingstown. The Taylor Sheridan crime drama is firing up for its fifth and final season, dropping in the new year. If you’ve been following the McLuskys’ grim misadventures, this is your last chance to see Jeremy Renner raise hell as Mike, before the series rides off for good.
Mayor of Kingstown is done after eight episodes, with the final season landing January 15, 2027.
The Final McLusky Tour
The key detail: Paramount+ confirmed on 20 October 2026 that Mayor of Kingstown is officially finishing. Renner comes back for his swan song as Mike McLusky, and he’s not alone. You’ve also got Taylor Handley returning as Kyle, his brother and right-hand man, and an expanded cast that includes old faces plus a few heavy-hitters:
- David Morse as Russell Hardy (an FBI agent with a nasty determination)
- Edie Falco as Nina Hobba
- Laura Benanti as Cindy Stephens
- Hugh Dillon as Ian Ferguson
- Tobi Bamtefa back as Bunny, who always deserved more screen time
Where We Left Off
Season five picks up after the mess from last time: Tracy McLusky is dead, and Mike plus Kyle have their sights set on Callahan. But the dead don’t stay offscreen for long: their quest drags FBI agent Russell Hardy straight into the fray at Kingstown. Hardy’s arrival is more than just another lawman poking about. As the official synopsis neatly puts it:
A true lawman, Agent Hardy threatens to unearth all of Mike’s sins and secrets, and disrupt Kingstown’s tenuous balance of power
So the main event this series will be whether Mike can keep his grip on Kingstown intact, while Hardy digs—possibly tipping the whole rotten structure over. Expect the usual mix of hard stares, corrupt politics, and probably a body count in double digits by episode four.
Behind the Scenes
Production kicked off back in March 2026, shot in and around Pittsburgh. Creators Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon are steering the ship as executive producers, joined by Renner himself, plus Antoine Fuqua, David C. Glasser, and a long list of producing hands. The show remains locked into Paramount+ only, so don’t expect it to migrate to Netflix or anywhere else—at least not anytime soon.
