Don't count it out: X-Men: Apocalypse star hints at MCU return in a new movie

Here's one for the keen-eyed Marvel fans: Lana Condor, who played Jubilee in X-Men: Apocalypse, is openly tossing about the idea of suiting up again for the MCU. While nothing's been confirmed, she clearly wouldn't say no and has, by her own account, been nudging the folks in charge about it.

In her chat with The Direct, Lana Condor said: 'I would love nothing more than to come back as Jubilation Lee. That’s all I’ve been hearing, but no real conversations… I’ve talked to the filmmakers and been like, "Hey, listen, I’m 10 years older now. I know more. Bring me back." So we’ll see.'

The Jubilee Backstory

For those who've not kept the trading cards from the '90s, Jubilation Lee is better known as Jubilee, a mutant with the ability to blast out firework-like energy plasmoids from her hands. She was a student at Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters in Bryan Singer's 2016 film, turning up alongside Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Nightcrawler, before promptly disappearing into studio obscurity (as X-Men characters tend to do when Fox runs out of screentime or interest).

Condor's appearance as Jubilee was brief, but she was in the mix with the main group of young mutants, so her return wouldn’t be the wildest thing Marvel’s ever pulled off. She also mentioned gently pestering the filmmakers as she’s now a decade older and, as she put it, more prepared for the job. And frankly, who’d blame her?

The Marvel Studios X-Men reboot is slated for cinemas on 5 May 2028.

Condor’s Hollywood Swerve

Lana Condor isn’t just Jubilee, though – far from it. 2016 was her debut year, kicking off with X-Men: Apocalypse and also turning up in Peter Berg's Patriot's Day. She did a spot in High School Lover the following year, but it’s her turn as Lara Jean Covey in Netflix’s beanbag romance To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before in 2018 that actually put her on the map.

If you're still keeping score, Condor is playing Paige in the upcoming Coyote vs. Acme, a 2026 comedy-adventure helmed by Dave Green with James Gunn and Christopher DeFaria producing. At this year's San Diego Comic-Con, she actually reminisced that her very first trip to the geek mecca was with the X-Men cast 10 years back. That’s come full circle if she gets called up for Marvel’s next phase.
