Beyond Daredevil: Two MCU Heavy Hitters Will Define Born Again Season 3
Daredevil won’t be the only hero in the spotlight — Luke Cage and Jessica Jones are poised for bigger roles in Daredevil: Born Again Season 3, as showrunner Dario Scardapane teases the duo will remain central after their Season 2 finale return.
If you thought the Daredevil: Born Again show was done bringing back old Marvel favorites, think again. It looks like both Luke Cage and Jessica Jones aren’t going anywhere—and they may even end up stealing a good chunk of Season 3 for themselves.
Big Hints From the Boss
Dario Scardapane, the showrunner behind Daredevil: Born Again, was asked point blank if fans should expect more of Luke Cage in the next season. Apparently, that’s something we can absolutely bank on. Scardapane joked about Marvel’s notoriously tight-lipped approach to spoilers, but admitted that there’s only so much you can hide once set photos start leaking everywhere.
'Yeah. I think that's something that you could say,' Scardapane said, when asked if Luke Cage would play a bigger part.
He also confirmed it’s not just about Cage; Jessica Jones is right in the thick of things too. That little “found family” dynamic that started brewing at the end of Season 2? It sounds like it’s going to be a big deal in Season 3. According to Scardapane, 'The relationship between Luke Cage and Jessica Jones—we start that picture of those three people, that family, at the end of Episode 8 in this season. The questions and the story that starts there play into Season 3, absolutely.'
Let’s Recap Where Things Left Off
- Season 2 Finale: Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) comes clean and reveals he’s Daredevil, then winds up in prison. Not your average superhero arc, but par for the course with Marvel drama these days.
- Reunited: Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) finally make their return to the franchise in the same episode after… what, years? In Marvel time, that’s basically two lifetimes.
- Big Changes: The finale leaves pretty much everyone in a whole new place, and if Scardapane is hinting this hard, it’s clear the groundwork for Season 3 was being laid all along.
What’s Next?
Marvel, as usual, isn’t spelling out exactly how big the roles of Jessica Jones and Luke Cage will be next season. But given how strongly Scardapane is winking at us here, expect them to be right at the center of the action. The franchise loves a slow-burn tease, and this seems to be their latest chess move.
Basically, if you’re tuning into Season 3 just for Daredevil, you’ll get plenty of him—but you might want to brush up on your Jessica Jones and Luke Cage, too. Looks like Marvel’s setting up their next chapter in a very deliberate (and fairly transparent) way.
