Jeff Garcia, famed for voicing Sheen Estevez in Jimmy Neutron, has passed away at 50 after battling several health complications. His son paid tribute to his father’s remarkable legacy and character.

Jeff Garcia, the distinctive voice behind Sheen Estevez in the much-loved children’s animation Jimmy Neutron, has died at the age of 50. The news was shared by his son, Jojo Garcia, on Instagram on 10 December, following a brief period in hospital.

Health Struggles and Final Days

Earlier this year, Garcia suffered a brain aneurysm after a fall resulted in a head injury. Though he initially made progress in his recovery, he later experienced a stroke in November and was hospitalised again due to pneumonia. These health setbacks ultimately led to his passing.

Jojo Garcia expressed his grief and admiration for his father in a heartfelt message:

“With a very heavy heart, I would like to inform everybody that my father, Jeff Garcia, has passed away. My father was a unique soul. He was unapologetically himself and I will always admire the love, compassion, and drive that he had. He taught me so much and gave me advice that I live by every single day.”

Legacy in Comedy and Voice Acting

Garcia was not only celebrated for his work in animation but also made his mark on the Los Angeles stand-up comedy circuit. His son, who has followed in his footsteps, described their close relationship and the inspiration he drew from his father:

“He was a Father, Son, Uncle, Cousin, Brother, but most of all, he was my best friend. I would call him every day. I would tell him about the plans I had in comedy and my life. He believed in me, in a way that nobody else did. The talent my father possessed was truly one of a kind.”

Garcia’s quick wit and bold sense of humour were evident both on stage and in the recording booth. His performances left a lasting impression on audiences, whether they encountered him through his animated characters or at a live comedy show. Jojo added:

“From voice acting to stand up comedy, he shined with his quick wit, brash humor, and charm. He has made such an impact on people’s lives internationally, whether you grew up watching Jimmy Neutron, or shared a laugh with him at one of his shows.”

Remembering a Unique Talent

Jojo described his father as his “hero”, concluding his tribute with:

“I know you’re in heaven smiling down and you’re in a better place now. No more pain. I’m going to make you proud pops. Fly high, Rocket Man.”

Beyond his iconic role in Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius and its spin-off series, Garcia lent his voice to a number of popular animated films, including Barnyard, Happy Feet, and Rio. He also appeared in 33 episodes of the sitcom Mr Box Office, which aired between 2012 and 2013. Garcia is survived by his two children.
