Avengers: Endgame Encore is heading back to cinemas ahead of Avengers: Doomsday, and an AMC listing’s runtime quietly confirms there’s fresh footage in the mix.

Good news if you’re one of the people who reckons three hours just wasn’t long enough for Avengers: Endgame: Marvel’s gearing up to drag us all back into the cinema for Avengers: Endgame Encore, this time with a bit of extra footage and a very conspicuous link to their next tentpole, Avengers: Doomsday. Right, let’s talk through what’s actually different this time—and why Marvel thinks you need to buy another ticket.

Avengers: Endgame Encore clocks in at three hours and five minutes, four minutes longer than the original cut back in 2019.

What’s new in the Encore cut?

So, we’re mostly dealing with a runtime bump. According to an official AMC listing, the Encore version runs three hours and five minutes, which is four minutes longer than the version we all saw in 2019. That’s not really an avalanche of new material, but for the die-hards, that’s four minutes of Marvel content you’ve definitely not seen before. Expect most of that to be laser-focused on connecting Endgame up with Doomsday, not random deleted scenes or fan-service gags.

If you want it in numbers:

  • The new Encore edition runs 185 minutes (vs 181 minutes in the original)
  • It lands in UK cinemas on 25 September 2026
  • Avengers: Doomsday arrives a few months later, on 18 December 2026

The official Marvel description is basically what you’d expect—reminder that Thanos snapped half of everything out of existence, the surviving heroes are a traumatised mess, they really fancy having their mates back, and then it’s all out brawl time. Nothing especially new there, aside from a bit of blurb suggesting this link to Doomsday is important.

The cast, because everyone’s in it

Look, it’s the full roster: Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man. Chris Evans as Captain America. Chris Hemsworth, Tom Holland, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner—plus, honestly, anyone who earned a Marvel paycheque between 2012 and 2019. You’ve also got Don Cheadle, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson, Karen Gillan, Benedict Cumberbatch, Josh Brolin (grimacing away as Thanos), Gwyneth Paltrow, Elizabeth Olsen, Anthony Mackie, and a rolling list of others that goes on for days.

That all-important bridge to Doomsday

The real selling point here, if you ask Marvel, is a ‘brand-new clip’ setting up the next Avengers event. The Russo brothers, returning to the director’s chair for this brief encounter, are up front that the extra material is there to build a direct connection between Endgame and Doomsday. They’ve been talking about this at length, and put it like this:

Here’s how Joe and Anthony Russo frame it: 'There’s a very strong connection between Endgame and Doomsday. And if you see the movie in theaters, you’re going to see some new footage that uh that that illustrates that connection for you.'

So if you care about Marvel continuity—or you just want to see what they’re seeding for December’s blockbuster—you’ll probably feel obliged to trudge in for this encore.
