Disney says its latest trailer shattered the studio’s 24-hour view record, dethroning the previous champ — and the title doing it isn’t the one you’d expect.

Wondering if the MCU still has enough life to draw the internet into a frenzy? Turns out, Avengers: Doomsday just gave us an answer. Marvel Studios has dropped their much-hyped full trailer, and the numbers have already gone a bit mad—even by superhero standards.

View counts that break records

The trailer delivered what you'd expect: all the usual crossovers, some speculative glimpses at who's teaming up with whom, and—here's the bit everyone's talking about—the first proper look at Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom. No, that's not a typo.

You could feel the online chatter revving up within seconds, with reactions all over the place (because naturally, MCU fans never met a trailer they couldn't dissect for half a week). But for once, the stats speak for themselves.

The Avengers: Doomsday trailer racked up 503 million views in 24 hours.

That's now the biggest debut for any trailer in Disney's history, overtaking the previous winner: Deadpool & Wolverine's 365 million views back at the 2024 Super Bowl. Doomsday is now the second-biggest trailer launch ever, only outdone by Sony's Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which soared to 719 million. Only in the MCU could a Marvel film shatter Disney records while still being outdone by a different studio's Marvel film.

Ticket sales off to a flyer

The trailer launch doubled up as the official start of ticket sales—specifically the 'Infinity Vision' label for those playing collector. Opening day advance sales? $16.5 million. Now, that becomes even more of a flex when you realise these tickets were only available in premium formats, at a mere 1,000 US cinemas. As per one industry insider, Thursday and Friday night premium shows (17–18 December) have nearly sold out already. Apparently, more screenings and standard formats are on the way, but as of now, it's a bit of a gold rush in the premium aisle.

  • Deadpool & Wolverine's 2024 Super Bowl trailer: 365 million views
  • Avengers: Doomsday (2026): 503 million views
  • Spider-Man: Brand New Day (Sony): 719 million views
  • Advance ticket sales: $16.5 million first day (premium formats only, 1,000 locations)

Not to pile on the numbers, but Sony's Brand New Day has early projections for opening weekend ranging anywhere from $180 million to $228 million, topping anything else so far in 2026. Avengers: Doomsday wants a piece of that action, though it faces the not-insignificant hurdle of Dune: Part Three releasing on the very same day. Call me cynical, but that's a studio schedule that could spark a few phone calls behind the scenes.

What's next?

The Doomsday trailer has conveniently landed just before San Diego Comic-Con, where Marvel Studios will take the stage in Hall H at 5:30 p.m. PT, Saturday 25 July. Expect exclusive sneak peeks for both Brand New Day and Doomsday, and if rumour-mongering is your favourite sport, there’s chatter about possible X-Men reboot casting announcements, or maybe a reveal or two of surprise roles for Doomsday itself. Since the general public has now seen the trailer, Hall H will likely get fed something juicier in person.
