A major Disney+ MCU star may have just joined Avengers: Doomsday, after a recent co-star appeared to spill the secret—right as the Russo Brothers’ Marvel epic powers through post-production.

Well, it looks like Marvel might have let another cat out of the multiversal bag—this time by accident. If you care about surprise casting reveals before the press blitz, buckle up, because the case of Iman Vellani and Avengers: Doomsday isn’t exactly airtight anymore.

The Accidental Reveal

Here’s how it happened: Iman Vellani (aka Ms. Marvel) and Andy Serkis (yes, Gollum himself—and Ulysses Klaue in the MCU) were out doing press for their new animated flick, Animal Farm. Serkis directed and voices a bunch of animals, Vellani plays two piglets. None of this has anything to do with Marvel... until it suddenly does.

During one of the interviews (credit goes to Cinema Hub for catching this), Vellani says she can’t wait to see Serkis’ next Gollum project, The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, due in 2027. Serkis, apparently not sweating NDA clauses, fires back:

'I’m excited to see you in Avengers: Doomsday.'

Vellani tries to recover—'No, you can’t say that'—but Serkis just sort of doubles down, vaguely backpedaling: 'Oh, I can’t? Well, if there should ever be the chance to see you in a film like Doomsday.'

If you followed all that: yeah, Marvel hasn’t officially announced Vellani for Doomsday, but if there was any doubt she’s back as Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel, Andy Serkis just made it a whole lot harder for the studio to stick to their usual secret-keeping routine.

So What Does This Actually Mean?

  • Iman Vellani hasn’t been listed (publicly!) as part of the Avengers: Doomsday or Secret Wars cast, but Serkis’ comment pretty much says it all.
  • The rumor mill has been churning for months about Ms. Marvel and the Young Avengers playing some kind of role in these movies, so if you’ve been paying attention, this isn’t coming out of nowhere.
  • Serkis, by the way, already has Avengers experience—as bad guy Ulysses Klaue in Age of Ultron—so you’d think he’d know the drill about keeping Marvel secrets locked down.
  • For the record: we’re still waiting on Marvel to actually confirm Vellani’s return. Until then, treat it like your buddy just spoiled a plot twist before you’d seen the episode.
  • Quick reminder on dates: Avengers: Doomsday lands in theaters December 18, 2026. Secret Wars comes a year later—December 17, 2027.

About Those Teaser Trailers

In case you missed it, Marvel’s already dropped four teasers for Doomsday, each one with its own "hey, look who’s back" moment:

- The first trailer confirmed Chris Evans is back as Steve Rogers (yes, the internet exploded)
- Teaser Two gave us Chris Hemsworth’s Thor
- The third spotlighted some X-Men showing up
- The fourth was a who’s-who, focusing on Letitia Wright’s Black Panther, Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s Thing, and a few surprises
- There was also an exclusive trailer at CinemaCon that hasn’t gone public yet, so unless you were there, no spoilers from that one

The Takeaway

Vellani as Ms. Marvel popping up in Doomsday isn’t exactly a shock—Marvel always packs these movies with crossover cameos—but the way it came out is classic slip-up territory. File this under "technically unofficial, basically confirmed," and go about your day acting surprised until Disney officially says the words.

Because if there’s one thing Marvel is less good at than CGI, it’s keeping that ever-growing cast under wraps.
