American Horror Story locks a date: Season 13 haunts FX on September 24, 2026, with Ariana Grande starring and the show's biggest star back in the fold, Deadline reports.

If you thought American Horror Story had run out of tricks by season 13, think again. FX is bringing the show back on 24 September 2026, and yes, that date is actually official now. The weirdest bit? This round of horror comes with Ariana Grande on the cast list, plus a veritable reunion of series regulars — and, for those who’ve missed her, the grand return of Jessica Lange. There’s a lot to unpick here.

Big Names on Board: A Full Roster

Let’s be honest, the cast is doing the heavy lifting for attention this year. Ariana Grande, straight from the pop charts and a few film cameos, is set for a proper run in Murphy-land. And she’s not exactly hard up for company.

  • Sarah Paulson
  • Evan Peters
  • Angela Bassett
  • Gabourey Sidibe
  • Billie Lourd
  • Emma Roberts
  • John Carroll Lynch
  • Mena Suvari
  • Matt Fraser
  • Jessica Lange (‘the’ Jessica Lange, after years away)
  • Paul Anthony Kelly (who got plenty of attention playing J.F.K. Jr. in FX’s Love Story earlier this year)

That’s a lot of high-profile returns, honestly, particularly with Lange. Her last stint was popping up in season 8 ('Apocalypse'), after starting out as Constance Langdon all the way back in the original 'Murder House' run. Since then, she’d basically disappeared from the show, so this is what you’d call a proper comeback.

Plot? Good Luck Getting Details

You’d think with all that casting news flying around, someone would let slip what Season 13 is actually about. No luck there. FX have only released a typically cryptic blurb:

"Which iconic horrors will return to haunt the hallowed halls of 13 and what new terrors await? Light your candles, draw your pentagrams, and prepare for a supreme surprise."

If you’ve watched any prior seasons, you know that means basically nothing. Translation: the theme’s secret, but expect callbacks and likely a few new monsters for Grande to scream at.

Behind the Scenes

As usual, American Horror Story is being wrangled by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, along with an entire cohort of executive producers — including Charlie Carver, Eric Kovtun, Nissa Diederich, Scott Robertson, and Tanase Popa. Also on the exec list: Crystle Roberson Dorsey, Jennifer Salt, and Tim Minear.

Paul Anthony Kelly is probably the fresh face to watch, since he’s riding high after that J.F.K. Jr. drama with Sarah Pidgeon, Constance Zimmer, Naomi Watts, Grace Gummer and Noah Fearnley — that series, again, also very FX. He’s in the mix here with AHS veterans, which could make for a bit of fun chaos on-screen.
