Anne Hathaway is ‘completely obsessed’ with one Irish actress and ‘enchanted’ by another
After a blockbuster 2026, Oscar-winner Anne Hathaway’s already eyeing her next screen partners — two Irish stars she fancies teaming with.
Anne Hathaway isn't exactly taking her foot off the pedal after a completely packed 2026. Fresh off a year that saw major roles in Verity, The Devil Wears Prada 2, and Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, she's now talking dream collaborators — and has a particular eye on talent from Ireland.
While doing the press rounds for Verity, Hathaway told Goss.ie: "I'm completely obsessed with Saoirse Ronan. I just think that she's the coolest. She's so interesting."

Hathaway didn’t just stop at Saoirse Ronan. She also singled out Jessie Buckley as someone she's genuinely 'enchanted' by, and you'd be hard-pressed to find someone in the industry who hasn't raved about Buckley in the past year or two. Hathaway described Buckley as a “creature” in the best possible way – apparently a phrase she picked up from director Rebecca Miller, who once said all the best actors are “creatures.” In Hathaway's words, Buckley seems like someone who “dances with the angels.” Not your average compliment, but she means it as the highest praise.

On Buckley, Hathaway said: "Like the rest of the world, I'm enchanted by Jessie Buckley. I don't know how she does it."
If Hathaway had her way, Ronan and Buckley would be her top picks for future projects. And she was quick to point out, she’s not just ticking them off a list — her admiration for Irish actors runs deep, joking that thanks to the likes of three-time Oscar-winner Daniel Day-Lewis, her “dream team” of Irish collaborators could go "on and on and on."
Never a dull day
If you’re wondering when these fantasy collaborations might actually happen, it’ll have to slot in between Hathaway’s increasingly busy schedule. So far in 2026, she’s returned as Andy Sachs for the first time in nearly two decades in The Devil Wears Prada sequel (with Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt still in tow), and she's back with Nolan for his latest, The Odyssey. Now she’s got Verity — a psychological thriller — on deck, and she’s already eyeing a wishlist of future scene partners.
