Andrew Garfield denies he's in Doomsday, then admits nobody should believe him

Andrew Garfield is at it again — dodging, denying, and generally stirring the pot whenever someone brings up his possible involvement in Avengers: Doomsday. If this sounds familiar, it’s because we’ve been through the exact routine before, back during the never-ending game of 'Is Garfield in No Way Home or not?'. He lied about that one until the studio forced his Spidey mask off on screen, so you can see why no one’s entirely convinced by his latest denials.

Garfield on the Defensive (Again)

Doing press for his new film The Uprising, Garfield was inevitably poked by Variety about those Avengers: Doomsday rumours. Straight-faced, he told them: 'I am not [in Doomsday].' Apparently determined to head off the rampant speculation, Garfield looked right down the lens and repeated himself for effect. Of course, no-one really bought it, and the interviewer didn’t let it slide — pointing out that he’d played similar games with No Way Home.

This time, Garfield played along with the joke, even admitting that, yes, he’s lied about Marvel roles in the past. Here’s how he fessed up to his reputation for secrecy:

When pressed about whether fans could actually believe him this time, Garfield conceded: 'So you will find out, I suppose one way or the other.'

That sort of response is hardly designed to shut the speculation down. If anything, he’s almost winking at the audience over the interviewer’s shoulder.

When Actors Deny, Nobody Believes

For what it’s worth, Garfield’s done this dance before. Back in October 2025, he was supposedly even more blunt, swearing he was 'unequivocally f—– no' part of Doomsday — either alongside Tobey Maguire or hiding elsewhere in the ensemble. Still, MCU fans have very long memories: this is the same bloke who went full method about 'not being in No Way Home,' later popping up grinning beneath the mask next to Maguire like nothing happened.

Avengers: Doomsday will feature an even larger collection of heroes than before.
