Who killed Theo in Coronation Street? All the suspects so far
Theo Silverton's death has been the biggest storyline on Coronation Street in 2026.
His body was discovered on the evening of 23 April, the same night as Carla Connor and Lisa Swain's wedding, and Betsy Swain was the one who found him. The police investigation has been running for weeks now, and the killer still hasn't been revealed — though producer Kate Brooks has confirmed the audience will find out in late June or July.
Here's everything we know so far, and everyone who had a reason to want Theo gone.
What did Theo do?
For those catching up: Theo Silverton (James Cartwright) spent months terrorising his partner Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) through coercive control, financial abuse, and violence. He isolated Todd from friends and family, manipulated him emotionally, and — most damningly — left Billy Mayhew to die in a minibus after the Corriedale crash in January 2026, then let everyone believe he'd tried to save him.
Carl Webster overheard Theo's confession at Billy's funeral, and the two entered a mutual blackmail arrangement. By the time of his death, the truth about Theo's behaviour was beginning to surface, and multiple Weatherfield residents had reasons to want him stopped.
The suspects
- Todd Grimshaw — the most obvious candidate. Months of escalating abuse could have pushed Todd to a breaking point. He tried multiple times to escape Theo and failed. By April, he knew about Theo's role in Billy's death.
- Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard) — knew Theo's darkest secret and was being blackmailed by him. Carl has his own long list of sins, and Theo was a direct threat to his freedom.
- Summer Spellman — Billy's surrogate daughter. She was actively investigating his death and was getting closer to the truth about Theo's involvement.
- George Shuttleworth — Todd's boss and father figure. George had grown increasingly suspicious of Theo's behaviour and was one of the first people to sense something was deeply wrong.
- Sarah Barlow — had voiced concerns about Theo and was working with George and Summer to check on Todd.
- Gary Windass — witnessed Theo's abusive behaviour first-hand in scenes that aired shortly before the 23 April episode.
When will the killer be revealed?
Kate Brooks confirmed to the Mirror that the audience will learn the killer's identity in late June or July 2026. She described it as a "massive story" with "so many different twists and offshoots." Recent episodes have hinted at a key witness changing their story and lying to the police — suggesting the answer may come from an unexpected direction.
