Who is trying to kill Judith in Ride or Die? The finale secretly swaps in a second answer
Prime Video dropped all eight episodes of Ride or Die on 15 July 2026 — Octavia Spencer as Debbie Claybourne, Hannah Waddingham as Judith Burton, and the small matter of Judith being a contract assassin. Somebody spends the entire season trying to kill her. The finale answers that, then quietly changes the answer in its last ninety seconds.

The season-long answer: Ana
The hunter is Ana, codename Redback (Sylvia Hoeks), a former operative of the same Agency. Years earlier in Turkey, Ana clocked how close Judith had got to Debbie — bonds like that are forbidden — and moved to kill her. Judith shot Ana first and left her falling into water, presumed dead. She wasn't.
Ana's revenge is built to hurt rather than to be quick: she plays Debbie the mission debrief tapes in which Judith describes her as useful cover, kidnaps her, and finally corners Judith herself.
The answer nobody expects: the Director
Ana's last move is blackmail. She threatens to expose how the Agency recruits — the Director (Bill Nighy) arranged for orphans to be adopted and then returned, engineering their loyalty — unless he orders Judith's death himself. He picks the Agency. The woman who spent 20 years believing she'd been rescued by him is signed off in a sentence.
Ana then locks Judith in a furnace. Debbie and handler Sam (Calam Lynch) get her out, and a cliffside chase ends with a hook gun, Ana's car going over the edge, and Debbie walking down to confirm the body.
Then the train
Debbie boards a train for the interrailing trip she'd always planned; Judith is heading for a Cambodian island Billy Donovan (Ed Skrein) had described before he died. They toast new adventures. Around them, a man dressed as a server and two women in tourist gear quietly draw concealed weapons. The episode never says who sent them.
The Agency is the obvious suspect, given the Director's standing order. The show declines to confirm it.
Is that a season 2 setup?
Openly. Showrunner Matt Miller told Gold Derby in 2026 that a second run would "pick up directly with the train" before heading somewhere new, with fresh villains and fresh countries. Prime Video hadn't ordered one as of August 2026.
For the record: the finale also reveals that Queenie (Savannah Steyn), newly recruited as the Agency's trainee assassin with Sam as her handler, is working for Interpol against the Director — who is also her father.
