Who is Orla Kent in Silo? The season 3 newcomer you won't find in the books
Silo returned to Apple TV on 3 July 2026 with a 10-episode third season running weekly to 4 September. The premiere opens on Silo 18's first council meeting since the rebellion, and one of the youngest people at the table spends it asking questions the older officials would rather she didn't.
Spoilers for the first three episodes follow.
Orla Kent, played by Quelin Sepulveda, is the Shadow to Carla McLane, head of Supply — a trainee learning every part of the department, standing in for her boss at council. She grew up in the supply bays and knows the procedures better than anyone in the room. She has no counterpart in Hugh Howey's novels.
What she's investigating
Her first report to the council is straightforward: production has recovered and supplies are back to pre-rebellion levels. Her second finding is not. Large quantities of stock, essential and otherwise, have gone missing. The working theory around the table blames the Flamekeepers and other rebels; Orla thinks the goods are being moved out through the construction department, and suspects her own predecessor was involved. She asks to open an investigation.
What happens to her
She disappears. In episode 3, "A Dark Web", Sheriff Paul Billings' search ends with her body being recovered from the mines after a poison gas incident. The episode doesn't explain how she got there or who put her there, and the missing-supplies thread stays open.
Why she isn't in the books
Seasons 1 and 2 covered Wool. Season 3 draws on Shift, which is largely an origin story set centuries before Juliette Nichols exists — she doesn't turn up until its final stretch. Showrunner Graham Yost restructured the material to keep Rebecca Ferguson's present-day storyline running alongside the flashbacks, which meant inventing people to carry it. Orla is one of them.
Yost has been open about not treating the trilogy as a blueprint:
"Buy copies of the book, but don't read them yet," he told The Hollywood Reporter in 2024.
Sepulveda, who is British-Brazilian, is best known for playing Muriel in Good Omens.
For the record: season 4 was shot back-to-back with season 3 and will be the last. Whatever Orla found in those supply records has one season left to be explained.
