When The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 3 premieres, and every episode air date
AMC has at last gone on record about whether The Walking Dead: Dead City’s third run will be its last, in a new update to press.
Here we go again: The Walking Dead: Dead City is back shambling across our screens this summer, and honestly, how this universe still has new stories left after two decades boggles the mind. The original comic rolled out in 2003, the main series landed in 2010, and now, somehow, the pipe keeps delivering. This particular spin-off is one of the more watchable ones, if only because Maggie and Negan’s dynamic remains just as strained, awkward, and violent as ever. Dead City’s third season arrives at the tail end of July, picking up about a year after the last lot of chaos and zombie viscera. Fans have only had to stew in anticipation for a little over twelve months—the S2 finale was June 2025—so compared to the usual gaps, that’s rather generous.
Season 3 of Dead City lands on 26 July 2026 and brings eight new episodes—one each Sunday night for two months straight.
When and Where
For everyone keeping score at home, Season 3 kicks off Sunday, 26 July 2026, premiering at 8 p.m. CST on AMC and AMC+. New episodes will drop every Sunday at the same time, running till 13 September and sticking with that compact, modern eight-episode format. Each instalment clocks in around 40 to 50 minutes, so if you’re planning an all-night binge at some point, you’re looking at about six hours—just enough to leave you questioning your life choices by morning.
- Ep 1: 'Trillium' — 26 July 2026

- Ep 3: 'Emigrants' — 9 August 2026
- Ep 4: 'Found/Lost' — 16 August 2026
- Ep 5: 'Imperialis' — 23 August 2026

State of Play—Spoilers Within
(Fair warning: if you haven’t seen the previous seasons, you may want to look away now—yes, there are spoilers incoming.) Right, last we checked in with Negan, he’d suffered another round of televised trauma, having lost Ginny (the young girl he’d practically adopted). Low spirits or not, he’s determined to protect whoever he’s got left—never mind how many lines in the sand he’s had to redraw over the years. As for Maggie, she was confronted with a tidy moral dilemma: off Negan at the behest of the Dama, her adversary with far too much leverage for comfort. Her own son voted to pull the trigger, but Maggie—being Maggie—refused. Instead, she decides to work with Negan yet again as the pair brace for the anticipated assault from the New Babylon Federation. This series, we’re supposedly getting a closer look at what 'rebuilding civilisation' allegedly looks like in the apocalypse: not just humans not eating each other, but perhaps with a dash of hope on the menu as well.
What Next? (Sort Of)
About Dead City Season 4: there’s not much info out there yet, which is no surprise considering The Walking Dead’s wider universe has been slowly winding down. Daryl Dixon’s solo series is meant to wrap up this autumn after its three-season stretch, so you wouldn’t bet against Dead City bowing out soon too. The flagship Walking Dead called it quits in 2022, Fear the Walking Dead managed to limp on till 2023, and it does seem like this corner of TV might finally be running out of steam—or at least, out of major characters we’ve not already seen devoured, miraculously redeemed, or both.
