After more than a year of waiting since that jaw-dropping finale, the Bristol-set thriller is nearly back — and the wait turns out to be shorter than anyone expected.

The short answer

The Crow Girl season 2 premieres on Monday, 20 July 2026, exclusively on Paramount+ in the UK and Ireland. It's another six hour-long episodes, with Eve Myles and Katherine Kelly both returning. That's one week away.

Who's back

Eve Myles reprises DCI Jeanette Kilburn, Katherine Kelly returns as Dr Sophia Craven, and Victoria Hamilton — fresh from The Teacher series 3 — is back as Superintendent Verity Pound. Buccaneer Media produces again, in association with ITV Studios, with filming at The Bottle Yard Studios and on location in Bristol.

What season 2 is about

It picks up the morning after series 1 ended. Jeanette has left her marriage and woken up in bed with Sophia — unaware, of course, that her new lover is also Victoria Burkeman, the killer she's been hunting. Her investigation into the murders of young male asylum seekers takes a grim new turn when:

  • A mummified body — is discovered hidden inside a church wall.
  • A body in a freezer — turns up soon after, revealing a chilling connection between the two.
  • Sophia's suspicions — fall on Victoria Burkeman, her "mysterious former patient" — which, given the series 1 twist, is a very loaded development indeed.

The trailer, released in early July 2026, sets the tone with a single warning line: "Justice will be hers."

Will it live up to series 1?

Paramount+ certainly thinks so, promising the new run will be "just as intense and emotionally charged as the first season". Series 1 — released in full on 16 January 2025 and adapted by Milly Thomas from Erik Axl Sund's bestselling Swedish trilogy — holds an 88% critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes, and its finale reveal (Sophia and Victoria being the same person) remains one of the boldest twists in recent British crime drama.

One thing Paramount+ hasn't confirmed yet: whether all six episodes drop as a box set on day one, as series 1 did, or roll out weekly.

Either way — 20 July. Clear your Monday.
