Welcome to Wrexham season 5 premiered on Thursday 14 May 2026 with a double episode, and the eight-part run wrapped on 25 June 2026 — so as of July 2026, the entire season is available to stream. Here's the full schedule, where to watch it, and what this one covers.
The release schedule
The season opened with two episodes on 14 May 2026 — "The Heart of Wrexham" and "Joey Jones" — then dropped one episode every Thursday until the finale on 25 June 2026. Eight episodes in total.
How to watch
- In the US — episodes aired weekly on FXX at 9pm ET and stream on Hulu.
- In the UK — the series streams on Disney+.
- In Canada — it airs on FX and streams on Disney+ Canada.
What series 5 covers
The 2025–26 EFL Championship campaign — Wrexham's first season in England's second tier since 1982, after an unprecedented three straight promotions under Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac (formerly Rob McElhenney). The club they bought for £2 million in February 2021 was stuck in the fifth tier; now only the Premier League sits above them, and the men's play-off chase ran right to the final day of the season on 2 May 2026.
It's not all football, either. Episode 2 is a tribute to club legend Joey Jones, who died in 2025 aged 70 after a lifetime of service to Wrexham. And the women's team gets a landmark of its own — a first-ever Genero Adran Premier title.
The whole project still runs on one outrageous ambition. Back in October 2021, Reynolds told reporters:
"We'd be lying if it wasn't Premier League or something like that."
People laughed at the time. The season 5 trailer — set to "I'm a Believer" — opens with that exact clip, and nobody's laughing now.
Will there be a season 6?
Yes — three more, in fact. In April 2026, Disney renewed the docuseries for seasons 6, 7, and 8, keeping the cameras rolling towards 2029. Not a bad run for a show that has already collected 10 Emmys.
One league left to climb. Three seasons ordered to film it.
