Sterling Point is Prime Video's eight-episode YA drama from My Old Ass writer-director Megan Park, co-showrun by The OC and Gossip Girl creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage and produced by Margot Robbie's LuckyChap. All episodes landed on 5 August 2026, a second season is already confirmed, and the premise starts with an inheritance: a 17-year-old gets a remote Canadian island from the grandfather she was never allowed to meet. Here's the full picture — premise, cast, and pedigree.

Sterling Point arrived on Prime Video on 5 August 2026 with the kind of pedigree that gets a show renewed within three weeks — which is exactly what happened. It's created and entirely directed by Megan Park, the filmmaker behind The Fallout and My Old Ass, produced by Margot Robbie's LuckyChap, and co-showrun by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage — the pair who made The OC and Gossip Girl.

The premise

Seventeen-year-old Annie Jacobson (Ella Rubin, The Idea of You) discovers she's inherited a remote island in Canada from an estranged grandfather she was never allowed to meet. The inheritance uproots her family — adoptive father Steven (Jay Duplass), her twin brother Connor (Keen Ruffalo, son of Mark) — and drops Annie into a small lakeside community with its own teenagers, its own rules, and a fair amount of unfinished business concerning why she was kept away from the place at all. There's a love triangle, naturally: Rory (Daniel Quinn-Toye), the safe hometown option, versus Ellis (Jacob Whiteduck-Lavoie), the immediate spark.

The pitch, condensed: teen soap DNA from the people who invented the modern version of it, a Canadian island instead of Newport Beach, and a family secret sitting in the will.

Eight episodes, 44–51 minutes each, all released at once. It was shot in Muskoka, the Ontario lake district where Park grew up nearby — and where My Old Ass was set.

How The OC connection happened

LuckyChap wanted an experienced partner for Park, a first-time showrunner who'd never sat in a writers' room, and sent the script to exactly one team. Savage told The Hollywood Reporter in 2026 that she and Schwartz — who normally don't open unsolicited email attachments — read it on the spot and were fully in. Park wanted the show to treat its teenagers the way their shows always had.

"[Shows] where the kids were treated like adults," is how Schwartz put it to The Hollywood Reporter — the house philosophy since Seth Cohen.

Park has credited the pair with teaching her television structure from scratch, telling Deadline in 2026: "They really taught me everything about structure."

Who else is in it

The wider cast: Amélie Hoeferle as Ramona, Bo Bragason as Oona, Mabel Strachan as Maple, Nikko Angelo Hinayo as Sully, Missi Pyle as Rory's mother Denise, Elle-Máijá Tailfeathers as Kate — and Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Joe, a local with a complicated place in the island's history. The soundtrack runs from Olivia Rodrigo to MUNA, with a score co-written by Tyler Hilton, who One Tree Hill viewers will remember as Chris Keller.

What's next

Prime Video confirmed season 2 in late August 2026, with production returning to Muskoka. The first season leaves several of the Jacobson family's questions answered and at least one relationship unresolved — this is a Schwartz–Savage production, after all. Cliffhangers are house policy.
