Vin Diesel just revealed the final chapter of his biggest franchise in a new video
Vin Diesel just made it official: cameras are rolling on a sequel that could be the biggest of his career.
Right, buckle up: Vin Diesel is gearing up for the end of an era – and for once, that’s not just marketing fluff. After more than two decades in the nitrous-fuelled world of Fast & Furious, Diesel is finally putting his foot down for the franchise’s last lap, and he’s doing it in proper style.

Diesel’s career has been pretty much defined by these big, noisy studios churning out sequels – whether it’s his nearly ten-year stint voicing Groot for Marvel, or his on-again-off-again returns as Riddick (and for those keeping score, Riddick: Furya is apparently still crawling through post-production, dates TBD). But honestly, Fast & Furious has always been his bread and butter. He’s been at the centre of it all since 2001’s original film, which at this point feels like a relic from another universe – the one where street racing was the actual plot.
After 2023’s Fast X, Universal wasted no time, greenlighting the next (and supposedly last) entry. That film’s now officially titled Fast Forever, because of course it is, and the studio are calling it the end of the saga. No half-measures – it’s being dubbed “the final movie in the franchise.”
Production: Engines On
We’ve now got confirmation from the man himself: shooting is underway. Diesel popped up on Instagram to announce that Fast Forever had started production, doing that usual social media schtick – a bit of behind-the-scenes set footage, a loving shot of the ’70 Dodge Charger R/T (the legend returns) and, yes, heartfelt thanks to the fans, describing them as 'the best audience in the world'. Apparently, he sees this as 'an amazing finale'.
Filming schedules? No word. Just know it’s happening and things are in motion.
Plot: All Still Under Wraps
Universal are keeping their cards close to their chest, so if you’re after plot leaks, join the queue. No storyline details have been made public, which is not unusual when scripts tend to get rewritten about sixteen times before anyone turns a camera on. But considering where Fast X left off – and how many threads that film left dangling – there’s plenty to unpick.
- Alan Ritchson’s Aimes got outed as a double agent, secretly working with villain Dante Reyes (Jason Momoa), after swaggering about as the new boss at The Agency.
- Reyes, classic baddie move, ended the last film by trapping Dom and his son inside a dam in Portugal, then blowing it up. Subtle it wasn’t; their fate was left up in the air. Literally.
- Several regulars are unaccounted for, presumed missing or, more likely, waiting for contract negotiations to finish before cropping up in the next film.
Realistically, the final film is going to need to tie up at least three movies' worth of melodrama, faked deaths, and government conspiracy nonsense. No pressure then.
Who’s Actually Coming Back?
Once again, no official cast list has landed from Universal, but it would be odd not to see the usual crew involved. Expect to see Tyrese Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Ludacris, Sung Kang and John Cena in some combination – they’ve become as much a fixture as the car chases. Last time out, both Dwayne Johnson (as Luke Hobbs) and Gal Gadot (Gisele Yashar) had their returns teased after sitting out for years, so don’t be stunned if this “finale” goes all-in assembling every signature cameo they can muster.

Fast Forever is currently in production and is set to hit UK cinemas on 17 March 2028.
