After multiple postponements, Toxic has hit the brakes again, pushing its theatrical debut back once more. Yash addressed the holdup and the reason behind it, assuring fans a new date is close.

If you were getting ready to mark your calendar for the release of 'Toxic' this summer, go ahead and grab that eraser. The big Yash-led gangster epic has—once again—hit the brakes on its theatrical launch. Yeah, it’s not the first date shuffle either. If you’re sensing déjà vu, you’re absolutely right.

Why Toxic Isn’t Coming Out Yet

So, what’s holding it up this time? Yash, aka the ‘Rocking Star’ himself, took to X (which used to be Twitter, for those not keeping score at home) to explain what’s going on. According to Yash, the movie is actually finished. The reason we’re not getting it yet is because the team is still working out partnerships and the full global release plan. Basically, after showing off some footage at CinemaCon earlier this month and getting a strong reaction, Yash and company decided to slow down and make sure the worldwide rollout lives up to the hype.

'There are films we make, and then there are films that remind us why we fell in love with cinema. Toxic has been one such journey. After CinemaCon and seeing the reaction, we realized this film needs to reach its full global potential. Work is done, but we’re locking in distribution and partners. That means a new date, but you won’t have to wait much longer. We promise the film will be worth it—and something Indian cinema can be proud of.'

In other words: they want a proper worldwide splash, not just a rushed rollout. Can’t argue with wanting to aim big, though if you were looking forward to an early summer trip to the movies, it’s annoying all the same.

This Is Toxic's Fourth Delay

If you’re having trouble keeping track (no judgment), here’s a quick rundown of all the musical chairs:

  • Original release: Supposed to be April 10, 2025
  • First delay: Moved to March 19, for reasons not fully spelled out
  • Second delay: Postponed again to June 4—this time thanks to instability in the Middle East
  • Now: June 4 is off, and we don’t actually have the new date yet—just that it’s coming 'soon' and will be announced once all those shiny international deals are in place

What We Know About Toxic

'Toxic' is a period gangster movie with Yash in the leading role (the guy behind the massive 'KGF' films, if the name didn’t ring a bell). Behind the scenes, Geetu Mohandas is directing, working off a script she wrote with Yash himself. They’re not holding back on language options either: along with the original Kannada, the plan is for dubbed versions in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam—so a big pan-India launch, plus whatever international partnerships they’re still hammering out.

Yash capped off his update by thanking fans for their patience and promising that whenever 'Toxic' does show up, it’ll be worth the repeated reschedules. Optimism is nice, but at this rate, I’d hold off on pre-ordering those tickets for just a little while longer.
