Tom Holland: 'I'm sure' Venom's coming to the MCU — maybe in the next Spider-Man
Pressed in a new interview after Spider-Man: No Way Home’s symbiote tease, Tom Holland finally spoke to Venom’s MCU prospects — without giving the specific answer away.
Right, we all know Marvel loves to drip out its big crossover moments at a snail’s pace, but here’s something to perk up your Friday: Tom Holland – yes, everyone’s favourite gawky Peter Parker – has just fuelled more speculation about Venom crashing into the main Marvel Cinematic Universe. If you’ve been waiting for Eddie Brock and his slimy alien mate to proper face off with Holland’s Spidey, you’re apparently not alone.
The Venom Situation
So here’s where things stand. Ever since Tom Hardy rocked up as Venom in the 2018 solo flick (Sony’s wild Spider-Verse sidebar), fans have been clamouring for a proper MCU face-off. You probably clocked that quick tease in Spider-Man: No Way Home – Venom popped round the MCU for about two minutes in the post-credits, did nothing except order a drink, and then got yoinked back to his universe before Peter could even look confused. Classic Marvel: breadcrumb, not a meal.
One day, I’m sure. We’ll get to see the Symbiote,
That was Holland’s response when a group of young fans grilled him about whether Peter would ever tangle with the infamous black goo. No dates, no hidden details, just a calmly confident promise that, at some stage, the Symbiote is coming. Marvel, as usual, has confirmed absolutely nothing official about when this might actually go down.
Who’s in Spider-Man: Brand New Day?
If you want answers, it looks like you’ll be waiting a bit – at least until after Spider-Man: Brand New Day launches next week. Yes, that’s the proper name for the next Holland-led outing, steered by Destin Daniel Cretton (who did Shang-Chi, if you forgot). Release date: 31 July 2026, so get that in your diary if you like to plan ahead.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day releases in theatres on July 31, 2026.
The cast this time is stacked, so here’s the basics:
- Zendaya is back as MJ
- Jacob Batalon returns as Ned, presumably doing more ‘guy in the chair’ stuff
- Mark Ruffalo does a guest stint as Bruce Banner/Hulk – which is, frankly, overdue
- Jon Bernthal turns up as Frank Castle/The Punisher, so expect a grumpy bloke in a skull t-shirt
- Sadie Sink (Stranger Things) joins the MCU for the first time – plenty of rumours she’s playing Jean Grey, but nothing solid yet
- Also hanging about: Michael Mando, Liza Colón-Zayas, and Marvin 'Krondon' Jones III
So, you’re not short on superheroes and possibly mutants this round, even if you’ll have to wait just a bit longer to see Holland’s Spidey in a symbiote suit actually smashing heads with Venom on MCU turf.
