The list of Taskmaster contestants who never won an episode
Across 21 series of Taskmaster — the most recent wrapped on 11 June 2026 — exactly nine contestants have gone through an entire series without winning a single episode. Not one Greg Davies nod. Here's the full club, as of July 2026.
The winless nine
- Romesh Ranganathan (series 1, 2015) — the most successful failure in show history: he finished joint second overall, one point behind champion Josh Widdicombe, without ever taking an episode.
- Joe Wilkinson (series 2, 2016) — no episode wins and last place overall, though his infamous disallowed potato throw remains one of the show's most replayed moments.
- Sara Pascoe (series 3, 2016) — five episodes, zero wins.
- Aisling Bea (series 5, 2017) — got to a tie-break and lost it. Agonising.
- Nish Kumar (series 5, 2017) — the same series produced a second member: Nish finished last in six of his eight episodes.
- Phil Wang (series 7, 2018) — statistically the least successful contestant ever. Ten episodes without a win, and without a single top-two finish.
- Judi Love (series 13, 2022) — winless across all ten episodes.
- Frankie Boyle (series 15, 2023) — the highest scorer of the nine, with 150 points. He sat third going into the finale, until Jenny Eclair won the last episode and shoved him off the podium.
- Sanjeev Bhaskar (series 20, 2025) — the newest member, who also lost at a tie-break and finished bottom of the series Maisie Adam won.
The nearly men and women
Three of the nine — Bea, Ranganathan, and Bhaskar — reached at least one tie-break and lost it, meaning they came a single sudden-death task from leaving the club. The other six never even got that close.
Does an episode win actually matter?
Not as much as you'd think. Romesh proved you can nearly win the whole series without one, and the reverse is just as true: Morgana Robinson won series 12 despite taking just a single episode along the way, while Guz Khan and Emma Sidi each won four episodes in their series and still didn't lift the golden head.
Will the club grow?
Not this year. Series 21 — won by Joanna Page, with Armando Iannucci as runner-up — saw all five contestants win at least one episode, only the third series where that's happened. Kumail Nanjiani was the last to break his duck, in episode 6.
So the club of nine stays closed. For now, Phil Wang remains its president — ten episodes, no wins, no top-two finishes, and a place in Taskmaster history nobody is fighting him for.
