Quentin Tarantino hints at animated prequels and a Vega Brothers project after unveiling a lost Kill Bill chapter in Fortnite. Discover what the director has in mind for his next creative ventures.

With the long-lost Kill Bill segment, Yuki's Revenge, making its unexpected debut through Fortnite, Quentin Tarantino has begun to reflect on the possibilities of animation for his shelved ideas. During a Q&A session at the Los Angeles premiere of Yuki's Revenge, he mused about the creative freedom animation could offer.

I could see some world between [Unreal Engine] and Japanese anime that I could find some happy medium. Or, you know, between the things that I couldn’t physically do, like, say, the Vega Brothers movie, or something like that,

he remarked, hinting at a blend of digital and traditional styles.

The Vega Brothers concept, once in development, would have united John Travolta’s Vincent Vega from Pulp Fiction and Michael Madsen’s Vic Vega from Reservoir Dogs. The narrative was set to follow the siblings as they cross paths in Amsterdam, serving as a prelude to their respective stories. Despite the project's abandonment, Tarantino’s recent comments suggest he has not entirely let go of the idea, especially if animation can bring it to life.

Exploring the Kill Bill Universe Further

When asked about revisiting the world of Kill Bill, Tarantino revealed he has more untold stories in mind.

I have a whole Kill Bill idea in my mind but I was wiped out,

he admitted, alluding to the creative toll of his previous work. He expressed particular interest in delving into the origins of Bill, the enigmatic antagonist, and the trio of mentors who shaped him: Esteban Vihaio, Pai Mei, and Hattori Hanzo.

I like the idea of a Bill origin. And the three godfathers that made Bill: Esteban Vihaio, Pai Mei, and Hattori Hanzo. Will I live long enough to do that? That remains to be seen.

Kill Bill, led by Uma Thurman as the vengeful Bride, follows her relentless pursuit of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad and their leader, Bill, after a brutal betrayal. The ensemble cast features Lucy Liu, Daryl Hannah, Vivica A. Fox, Michael Madsen, and David Carradine, each contributing to the film’s cult status.

Return to the Big Screen

Originally split into two volumes released in 2003 and 2004, the saga is set for a cinematic return as a single, four-hour feature titled The Whole Bloody Affair. Audiences will have the chance to experience the full story in one sitting when it arrives in UK cinemas on 5 December.
