Supergirl sets digital streaming date — here’s when you can watch at home

Warner Bros. has now confirmed when and where Supergirl lands for home viewing, in a new studio announcement today.

So, Supergirl didn’t exactly smash any box office records — in fact, calling its theatrical run a crash landing might be generous. But if you missed it (and judging by the ticket sales, odds are you did), you’ll get your shot soon because Warner Bros. is moving quickly to get it into living rooms.

Supergirl will be out on digital PVOD on 28 July, with Blu-Ray, DVD, and 4K UHD following 8 September.

The digital launch date actually slipped out online before anyone officially said a word, but now it’s been locked in by the studio. So, if cinemas aren't your thing (and judging by the turnout, they probably weren't), you’ll be able to rent or buy it digitally before the summer’s over.

The Story This Time

We’re not getting sunny Metropolis scenes here. In this version, Kara Zor El isn’t the cheery cousin of Superman, saving the day in tights. She’s still picking up the pieces from when Krypton exploded, and is basically space-hopping with her loyal companion Krypto (yes, the super-dog). No tights, no coffee at CatCo Worldwide Media — instead, she’s dragged into a revenge mission when a young warrior called Ruthye turns up, desperate for Kara’s help after a family tragedy. The two wind up hunting a right nasty villain by the name of Krem of the Yellow Hills. Definitely a rougher, moodier take for the character.

What to Expect

  • Supergirl on digital: 28 July (PVOD platforms — Amazon, Apple, all the usual suspects)
  • Physical copies drop: 8 September (Blu-Ray, DVD, 4K UHD with the extras, if you still collect shiny discs)
  • The film sits under the latest DCU banner from Warner Bros. — so new continuity, new actor, and none of the old TV baggage

No word yet regarding special features or streaming on subscription platforms — just pay-per-view and physical media, for now. If anything else leaks or Warner Bros. gets generous, you’ll hear it soon enough. For now, mark your calendar if you want to see Kara punch her way through the cosmos on your own telly.
