John Cena has finally spelled out why we’re still waiting on more Peacemaker after that cliffhanger, speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast.
If you’ve been hovering on the edge of your seat for a whiff of news about Peacemaker coming back, well, John Cena’s finally broken cover—and his answer is pretty straightforward. In a chat on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, he tackled the whole ‘why are we still waiting?’ business, and, I’ve got to say, it’s peak franchise priorities stuff.
Why Peacemaker’s On Ice
Speaking with host Josh Horowitz, Cena put it out there: he’s not sulking over the hold-up. Asked point-blank if we’ve seen the end of the helmeted antihero, Cena said you’d need to ask someone else. The helmet hasn’t seen the light of day since Peacemaker’s last outing. Still, he assures fans he’s ready—he’s told James Gunn he’ll happily pop the bucket back on any time he’s called.
Cena gets why Peacemaker isn’t at the top of DC’s to-do list right now. Gunn, fresh from climbing the Marvel mountain with Guardians, has been handed the keys to the whole DC toybox, and—you can’t really blame him—the big tickets like Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman are naturally going to demand his focus first. That Cliffhanger and the Show’s Future
Is Peacemaker’s story really finished? Cena doesn’t think that feeling ever goes away—and, in fact, he laughed about how it feels a bit like being called back to the wrestling ring long after retirement. To him, when fans keep asking for more, it means the work actually struck a chord. No one’s telling him ‘good riddance’, at least not in his inbox. Fans are, for the most part, rooting for another round.
