Sebastian Stan’s Rumoured Role in The Batman Sequel Sparks Frenzy
Speculation swirls as Sebastian Stan is linked to a major part in The Batman - Part II, with cryptic social media hints and deleted posts fuelling the mystery ahead of the film’s 2027 release.
Whispers have been circulating that Sebastian Stan, best known for his Marvel exploits, could be making the leap to Gotham in Matt Reeves’ much-anticipated follow-up. The rumour mill kicked into overdrive after talk emerged on 6 January 2026 that Stan was in discussions to join the cast. The real intrigue, though, began when speculation surfaced that he might be stepping into the shoes of Harvey Dent, the ill-fated district attorney who becomes Two-Face.
While fans have been busy piecing together clues, the production team has kept their cards close to their chest. Yet, a curious twist arrived courtesy of Stan’s stylist, Michael Fisher. A flurry of activity on Fisher’s Instagram account set tongues wagging: first, a story featuring fan art of Stan as Two-Face, then another image showing the actor in the character’s signature look. Both posts vanished almost as quickly as they appeared, but not before screenshots began making the rounds online. Official representatives for Warner Bros., Matt Reeves, and Stan himself have all remained tight-lipped, offering no comment on the matter.
Social Media Slip or Deliberate Tease?
It’s worth noting that Fisher’s posts hardly amount to a formal announcement. There’s every chance the stylist was simply joining in with the online chatter that erupted as soon as Stan’s name was linked to the project. Still, the timing and content of the posts have only added fuel to the fire, leaving fans to wonder whether there’s more to the story than meets the eye.
Should Stan take on the role, he’d be following in the footsteps of a select group of actors. Billy Dee Williams first portrayed Dent on the big screen, later replaced by Tommy Lee Jones for the villainous turn in Batman Forever. Aaron Eckhart’s performance in The Dark Knight remains a standout, while Harry Lawtey’s recent appearance as a pre-scarred Dent in Joker: Folie à Deux offered a fresh perspective, with the film’s conclusion hinting at the character’s darker transformation.
Gotham’s New District Attorney?
The narrative logic for introducing Dent is certainly there. With the previous district attorney, Gil Coulson (played by Peter Sarsgaard), meeting a grisly end at the hands of The Riddler, Gotham is left in need of a new legal figurehead. Stan’s potential casting would fit neatly into this gap, providing a familiar face for audiences and a new dynamic for the sequel’s storyline.
Adding another layer to the speculation, some have suggested that Scarlett Johansson could be in line to play Gilda Dent, Harvey’s wife. Gilda’s role in the comic arc Batman: The Long Halloween is significant, and that storyline has already influenced several cinematic outings, including Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and the first instalment of Reeves’ vision.
What Lies Ahead for The Batman - Part II
For now, nothing has been confirmed, and the studio remains silent on casting specifics. With filming scheduled to commence in spring 2026 and a release date set for October 2027, it’s likely that more details will emerge in the coming months. Until then, the question of whether Stan will indeed don the coin and scars of Harvey Dent remains one of the most tantalising mysteries in the world of superhero cinema.
