Sandra Bullock hid both her children in Practical Magic 2, and they don't know where
Sandra Bullock told Access Hollywood Practical Magic 2 is stashing secret cameos — and the twist is far more personal than you’d expect.
Practical Magic 2 is back on the cards, and after nearly three decades, Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman are stepping back into their witch shoes as the Owens sisters. Yes, it really has been that long since midnight margaritas and the cult favourite first hit the big screen in 1998.
During a chat with Access Hollywood, Sandra Bullock let slip: 'They're in the movie, but not in an obvious way to you. And so I can't wait to sort of show them where it is. They don't know where it is.'
Secret cameos you'll miss
The standout oddity this time? Bullock says both her kids are hiding in the sequel somewhere, but apparently, even they won't know where. Expect a bit of a hunt to spot them – blink and you’ll probably miss it.
Back to witchy business – 27 years later
So, what’s the deal with Practical Magic 2? It’s picking up 25 years after the original. If, by any chance, you’ve forgotten the plot, the first film followed Sally (Bullock) and Gillian (Kidman) as cursed sisters in a long line of women who can’t have happy love lives – because supernatural rules, apparently.
Now, Sally’s daughter Kylie stumbles across some old family skeletons in the magical closet, discovers she’s got powers of her own, and so begins a new mystery. With the curse rearing its ugly head again, Sally, Gillian, and their legendary aunts are off to the UK (finally giving the American witches a British road trip) to get to the bottom of where their magic came from – all in the hope of saving the next generation.
Practical Magic 2 lands in cinemas on 10 September 2026.
Old favourites and a new crowd
- Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing are back as Aunts Jet and Frances.
- Fresh faces include Joey King, Maisie Williams, Lee Pace, Xolo Maridueña, Solly McLeod, and Evan Rachel Wood.
Susanne Bier is sat in the director’s chair this time, with Bullock and Kidman producing alongside Denise Di Novi. Story-wise, expect magical mayhem, complicated family legacies, and at least a few new reasons for the aunts to pass the tequila. For posterity, the first film did take a critical kicking, but now sits at a decent 73% Popcornmeter (whatever that means) – not bad for a film that’s gone from guilty pleasure to cult classic.
