Sadie Sink No Longer in Contention for Disney’s Live-Action Rapunzel

Speculation around Disney’s casting for the live-action adaptation of Rapunzel has taken yet another unexpected turn. Sadie Sink, previously thought to be the studio’s preferred choice for the lead, is now said to be out of the running. This development emerged after Jeff Sneider was questioned about the current frontrunners for the much-anticipated Tangled remake.

New Names Emerge in the Casting Conversation

Earlier reports had placed Sink at the top of the list, especially after suggestions that Sabrina Carpenter and Ariana Grande were no longer being considered. However, Sneider’s latest comments made no mention of Sink. Instead, he highlighted two other actresses who are apparently under serious consideration, one of whom is McKenna Grace, known for her role in Regretting You.

Previously, Nexus Point News had identified four main contenders for the part: Sadie Sink, McKenna Grace, Emma Myers from Wednesday, and Isabel May of 1883. Yet, according to the most recent information, Grace appears to have edged ahead in the race, with Freya Skye, who featured in Zombies 4, also being discussed as a possible lead.

While most of the previously mentioned names have faded from the conversation, Sneider claims that Grace is now the favourite among those close to the project. He also noted that Disney is showing interest in Freya Skye, though Grace remains the top pick at present.

I do, I have heard that Zombies 4 actress Freya Skye is amongst the actresses being considered for the role and Disney does like her. That said, McKenna Grace is still the favourite amongst insiders.

Despite these updates, Disney has yet to make any official announcements, leaving fans to sift through a flurry of rumours and speculation. The studio’s silence has only fuelled further debate about who will ultimately be chosen to portray the iconic character.
