Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings star Simu Liu has tied the knot — but with whom?

Time for a bit of celebrity news worth a raised eyebrow: Simu Liu, Marvel's own Shang-Chi, has officially tied the knot with Allison Hsu. Yes, you read that right – he’s not just saving the world on screen, he’s apparently hitting major life goals off it as well.

Simu Liu and Allison Hsu became husband and wife at a ceremony in France over the first weekend of October 2026.

From Red Carpets to French Vows

Liu and Hsu first gave the internet a proper nudge back in November 2022, when they went Instagram-official – because of course – and then did the red carpet thing together at the Violent Night premiere just to seal the deal. It wasn’t long before they started popping up at events together, clearly not bothered about keeping things under wraps. If you like a bit of Hollywood romance, the two of them have provided it in spades.

Fast forward to spring last year: Liu apparently went full-on romcom in Paris, popping the question with the Eiffel Tower right there in the background. They announced their engagement to the world on 11 May 2025, via a joint Instagram post, complete with the ring and a string of those ‘look how happy we are’ photos. Hsu kept it simple and direct in the caption: “Us forever.”

  • Liu and Hsu started dating in 2022
  • First public appearance: November 2022, at the Violent Night premiere
  • Engagement: Eiffel Tower, May 2025
  • Married: France, October 2026

That’s a four-year stretch from making it public to actually walking down the aisle, which, for a couple with the paparazzi occasionally lurking, isn’t bad going.

A Pricey Production

Now, if you’re picturing a discreet affair hush-hush away from the limelight, think again: their wedding weekend in France reportedly involved quite a bit of fanfare. Liu actually opened up a bit about the preparations during a chat with PEOPLE magazine earlier this year. Turns out, even Marvel money doesn’t spare you from the slap in the face that is wedding bills.

He said the planning process had been going well, but he admitted the costs were getting out of hand. Here’s how Liu described the classic wedding cost spiral:

“And I really do think no matter what your budget is, it’s always going to cost more than you think. Everything always costs more than you think. That’s definitely true for us as well.”

So yes, even Hollywood stars can’t dodge the brutal reality of overpriced canapés. Still, if your engagement happens under the Eiffel Tower, you’re probably not cutting corners on croissants.
