If you relish following series as they unfold, a clutch of unfinished Netflix shows is prime binge fuel.

It feels like every week there’s a new big series popping up on Netflix, but the real binge-watcher’s dilemma is finding an ongoing show that won’t leave you high and dry after the finale. Yes, we all love a neat, wrapped-up story, but there’s something addictive about following an active series – chatting about every twist, swapping theories, and suffering those torturous cliffhangers together like digital war veterans. Of course, quite a few binge favourites have closed their doors lately – Stranger Things has taken its bow, Ozark is done, and The Umbrella Academy has turned out the lights (more or less).

Fortunately, Netflix isn’t exactly starving for series still running, whether you want supernatural shenanigans or legal battles from the back seat of someone’s car. So, if you’re searching for your next binge that hasn’t run its course, here’s a rundown of the best active shows on Netflix right now – including one or two you might’ve missed. One quick note: don’t bother if you want to finish everything this weekend; a couple of these will probably still be haunting the homepage when you come back next year.

The Pick of Netflix’s Ongoing Series

  • One Piece: Now that the Hawkins crew have sailed off, Netflix’s live-action spin on the One Piece universe is gearing up to be a massive hit. Most live-action anime attempts flop spectacularly; this one doesn’t. It’s definitely not beating Oda’s original work, but there’s enough heart and chaos to justify both the existence of the Straw Hat crew and a solid new audience. If you’ve never touched anime for fear of drowning in 1,000 episodes, this is your new entry point. If you find full-tilt fantasy too much, maybe not.
  • Ginny & Georgia: Season 3’s already out, and the show still feels criminally underwatched. Best described as Gilmore Girls with a criminal record and more skeletons in the closet, it follows a mother and daughter on the run, masked as a routine relocation to Massachusetts. Expect loads of witty exchanges and layers of melodrama – think faster, darker, and a bit more violent antics than your typical small-town drama.
  • Wednesday: Hogwarts, if the Addams Family ran the faculty. This spin on the famous clan gives us Wednesday Addams in a boarding school for the magical and peculiar, with Jenna Ortega nailing the part. The show gets stick for not always doing justice to the classic Addams vibe, but if you like magic mysteries, teen horror, and a slightly sardonic sense of humour, you’ll probably end up shoving all the episodes into your face at once.
  • The Lincoln Lawyer: Nearing its fifth and final season, this take on Michael Connelly’s books is both peak Netflix and a reminder that the right legal drama doesn’t have to take place primarily in ugly offices. Our hero does his lawyering from the back seat of his iconic Lincoln, uncovering mysteries and swinging for crowd-pleasing verdicts all over Los Angeles. Perfect if you want legal action with just enough twist.
  • Bridgerton: Even if you’re not a period drama person, it’s tough to ignore how sticky Bridgerton is – and by now, you’ve got four seasons to burn through. Lavish ballroom dances, riddles of romance, high-society scandals that wouldn’t look out of place in a glossy magazine. If you want escapism, this is pure, brightly-coloured sugar. Fifth season is already confirmed.
  • Avatar: The Last Airbender: Another anime-to-live-action attempt, and no, it’s not flawless, but at two seasons it’s hardly the time commitment the original cartoon was. It looks fantastic and lands a few good emotional punches, taking the focus off perfect faithfulness and aiming for its own identity. The second season edges closer to what fans expected and there’s still one more to come.
  • 3 Body Problem: Netflix’s take on Cixin Liu’s sci-fi epic gets weird (in a good way) and, quite frankly, can fry your brain if you leave too long between episodes. Only one season’s live at the moment, with two more locked in. If you’re after high-concept science fiction with existential angst and big-picture alien shenanigans, binge this in a solid burst so you don’t lose the plot threads.
  • All of Us Are Dead: Korean zombie apocalypse at maximum intensity. Season 2 took its time, but was reportedly done with filming back in February. If you want high-school drama and high-stakes survival mashed together with relentless energy, it’s one of the better bets on Netflix – and you can get through the whole first season in a proper night or two.
  • Nobody Wants This: Kristen Bell and Adam Brody lead this rom-com that’s more grown-up than it looks at first glance. Relationships handled with a bit more reality, sharp one-liners, and two seasons that go by in a flash. It’s a must-watch for anyone who actually likes the genre or just needs a bit of serotonin delivered care of awkward conversations and heartwarming disasters.
  • Outer Banks: Just when you thought you could get off the Pogue train, there’s still fuel in the tank. The treasure-hunting drama returns for its final swing on 20 August, so there’s actually time to catch up before the last round drops. Think sunny escapism, teen melodrama, and conspiracy – perfect to binge if you like your mysteries on the choppier side.
Outer Banks launches its fifth and last run on 20 August 2026.

Most of these titles are either part-way through their run or about to close the book, but if you pick right, you’ll land in the middle of the current conversation – and, hopefully, dodge a cliffhanger or two (at least for a few months).
