AMC is pressing ahead with a television sequel to Point Break, the cult action film that helped launch Keanu Reeves as a leading man. David Kalstein, known for his work on Amazon’s Butterfly, is set to write and executive produce the series. He’ll be joined by Alcon’s Andrew Kosove, Broderick Johnson, and Ben Roberts, who will also serve as executive producers.

Unlike the 2015 remake, which many felt failed to capture the spirit of the original, this new project will not attempt to retread old ground. Instead, it will carve out its own narrative, remaining within the established world of the first film.
