Or, in simpler terms: They know the series works, and they're moving forward because of that—not just for the hype. HBO is just being cautiously slow about the paperwork.

What’s Season 2 Actually Covering?

This is where the King lore gets fun. Pennywise (or 'It', if you prefer your eldritch monsters a little vaguer) comes back to feast every 27 years, then heads back into hiding. The original book and the movies focus on the 1950s and 1980s losers who finally team up to end the nightmare.
