Now we’re listening: Barbara Crampton joins Dexter: Resurrection season 2

Well, here’s one for the horror fans and the die-hard Dexter watchers. Turns out season 2 of Dexter: Resurrection isn’t just piling up the body count — it’s bringing in a bit of horror film royalty as well. Barbara Crampton, quite possibly the genre’s busiest scream queen since the '80s, has revealed she’s making an appearance in the new season. Before you get too excited, though, she’s staying frustratingly tight-lipped on exactly who she’s playing.

Crampton spilled the beans (well, a few of them) via social media. She posted a behind-the-scenes snap straight from the set, all smiles with Michael C. Hall himself, which means there’s absolutely no doubt about which project she’s been teasing. She’s described it as simply an “appearance”, so it’s probably not a series regular gig — but when someone like Crampton shows up, even a cameo can steal the scene.

If you’re wondering why this is such a big deal, let’s put it this way: Barbara Crampton is a bit of a cult celeb when it comes to horror. She first found fame with 1980s genre classics like Re-Animator, From Beyond, Puppet Master, and Chopping Mall (all bonkers in their own right), then managed to stay relevant decades later in films like You’re Next, We Are Still Here, and Jakob’s Wife. It’s the sort of casting that sends genre nerds scrambling to speculate who she'll actually be playing — but so far, that’s still a mystery.

More Killers, More Carnage

Crampton isn’t the only horror connection joining the Dexter universe this series. Kane Hodder — yes, the bloke behind Jason Voorhees in four of those ever-resurrecting Friday the 13th films — is also on the cast list for season 2. If nothing else, the showrunners are leaning hard into their horror roots here.

The core cast returns with Michael C. Hall as Dexter (no surprises there), Jack Alcott as Harrison, and returnees Uma Thurman, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Kadia Saraf, Dominic Fumusa, Desmond Harrington, and James Remar. That’s already a decent pack, but here’s where it gets even busier:

• Dan Stevens
• Bokeem Woodbine
• Nona Parker Johnson
• Brian Cox as the infamous New York Ripper (apparently with decades of crimes under his belt)
• Krysten Ritter and Gabriel Luna dropping in for guest spots, with Luna playing the Sleepy-Eyed Stranger and Stevens tackling Owen Stark, also called the Five Borough Killer

If you thought Miami was perilous, Dexter’s relocated chaos in New York is shaping up to be proper murderers’ row this time out.

What’s Season 2 Actually About?

The story picks up right where season 1 left off (no spoilers here for those trailing behind). Dexter is now caught between a pair of serial killers: one a decades-long legend (that’s Cox’s Ripper), and one rather newer on the scene, menacing the city in a different way. Meanwhile, Harrison’s crusade for his own brand of justice continues, pitching father and son onto yet another collision course. Also, sidenote: apparently Dexter’s facing the not-so-small threat of a mid-life crisis, as if the serial killers weren’t enough.

The official release date has landed: Friday, 30 October 2026, and as you’d expect, it’s exclusive to Paramount+. This year’s round comes from Clyde Phillips (showrunner and exec producer, Emmy-nominated, if you’re counting), and Michael C. Hall pulls double duty behind the scenes as well as on camera.
