New Sports Series Dethrones The Boys, Grabs No. 1 On Streaming
The Boys just got dethroned on Prime Video. Sports upstart Off Campus vaults to No. 1, bumping the superhero hit to second as it barrels toward its fifth and final season, with the series finale set for Wednesday, May 20.

If you thought The Boys was untouchable on Prime Video, well—think again. The all-conquering superhero bloodfest has just lost its number one spot, and you’ll probably never guess who’s knocked it down a peg. It’s not another caped crusader series or even that big-budget spy show. Nope, the new champion is... a teen romance hockey drama. I know. I raised an eyebrow too.
‘Off Campus’ Steals the Crown
Over the weekend, as of 19 May (thanks to some helpful number-crunching from FlixPatrol), Off Campus slid into the top position on Prime Video’s charts—both overall and specifically on the TV show leaderboard. Our perennial anarchic favourite The Boys has been booted down to number two, which is fairly significant given they’re right in the middle of the show’s fifth and final season. The last episode’s due on Wednesday, 20 May, if you’re counting down.
So, what’s up with Off Campus? For starters, it’s adapted from Elle Kennedy’s bestselling book series and tells the ‘fake dating turned actual dating’ story of music student Hannah Wells (Ella Bright) and hockey captain Garrett Graham (Belmont Cameli). Add in a handful of collegiate drama and romance tropes, and it’s basically comfort viewing for anyone who likes young adult dramas or can’t get enough of sporty love interests. Along for the ride are Mika Abdalla, Stephen Kalyn, and Jalen Thomas Brooks.
Rather than going week-to-week, Prime dropped all eight episodes in one go on 13 May 2026 (get ready for more full-season bingeing). The audience loves it so far—the Rotten Tomatoes critics’ rating is clocking in at a massive 96%, and audiences aren’t far behind at 89%. So as much as anyone wants to sneer, something’s clearly working.
‘Encompassing all of the tropes of an opposites-attract love story, Off Campus isn’t reinventing the wheel, but it’s still an interesting ride.’
— Aramide Tinubu, Variety
Now, before anyone points out that FlixPatrol’s data isn’t exhaustive—it doesn’t cover absolutely every corner of the globe—it’s still a pretty good indicator of what’s hot right now. So, worth paying attention if you're curious what's resonating with casual viewers and not just the usual comic book diehards.
Prime Video’s Current Top Ten (as of 19 May)
- Off Campus
- The Boys
- Citadel
- Regretting You
- Spirit of the Game
- Bang
- Despicable Me 4
- Invincible
- Good Omens
- The Equalizer
Couple of quick notes: Citadel, Invincible and Good Omens are all still hanging about the TV list too, as is Fallout—which frankly deserves to be talked about more often, but that’s a rant for another day. Lower down we’ve got things like the Academy of Country Music Awards (make of that what you will), The House of the Spirits, and Jury Duty Presents: Company Retreat.
As for The Boys: if you need a refresher, that’s Eric Kripke’s adaptation of the wonderfully deranged comics by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, which first landed in July 2019 and quickly became Prime’s biggest not-for-children hit. But for now? The superheroes are playing second fiddle to hockey sticks and hormone-fuelled love scenes.
