Netflix hit XO, Kitty might swap Season 4 for a wrap-up movie
XO, Kitty may wrap up with a feature-length movie rather than proceed with a fourth season to close out the series.
After three series on Netflix, the future of XO, Kitty – the teen rom-com spun off from the hit To All the Boys films – is now up in the air, with studio bosses debating whether to wrap up the story with a feature-length film rather than continue with a standard fourth run.
Although previous renewals for the show arrived swiftly, this time around both Netflix and Paramount Television Studios have delayed their decision. Instead of a quick renewal, Paramount have extended their deal with Netflix, leaving both a movie finale and a possible new series on the table. The cast have reportedly been asked to remain available pending a final choice, ensuring any option can move ahead smoothly when greenlit.
The show’s creator, Jenny Han, is said to have envisioned a three-series arc from the start.
Jenny Han, also known for penning the original To All the Boys novels and The Summer I Turned Pretty series, has form when it comes to concise adaptations: both of her book series have spawned three films or series each, and The Summer I Turned Pretty was also recently capped with a planned finale film. Netflix’s own Heartstopper similarly concluded with a one-off special, Heartstopper Forever.
