Michael B. Jordan is all-in on uncle life—right up until hand-off time. After a few hours with his nieces and nephews, he’s happy to pass them back and jokes it’s a solid reminder he’s not rushing into fatherhood.

Michael B. Jordan hit the red carpet with some VIP guests for his new movie Swapped—his own niece and nephew. Naturally, someone had to ask: Does spending time with a pack of little relatives make him want kids of his own? You can probably guess where this is going.

Michael B. Jordan on Uncle Duties (and Why He's Fine With That for Now)

When asked if hanging out with his nieces and nephew pushes him toward fatherhood, Jordan kept it real. He admitted he loves being an uncle, with all the perks and zero long-term responsibility. In his words, having kids around is 'probably the strongest form of birth control you can get.' He even joked that after a little time with the youngsters, he's more than happy to hand them back to their mom: 'Great, Jamilla, you can have them back.'

But let’s be clear—he really does dig being the fun uncle. Jordan said it was 'awesome' strolling down the red carpet with the kids for Swapped, especially because they rarely get to join him at big events. Most of his projects aren’t exactly G-rated, so this was a rare kid-friendly moment for both him and them. As he put it: 'It feels good, it feels great.'

The Long Game: Maybe, Someday… After a Plant Survives

If you’re wondering if Jordan ever wants to be a dad in the future, the short version is: eventually, probably, but not right now. He talked about it on My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman, saying:

'I want children. Yeah, I want kids one day, but I figure I gotta start off with, like, plants and dogs. If I can take care of a plant, I should be able to get a dog. If the dog is cool, then I have a shot.'

So for now, household flora and canines will have to tide him over.

What is Swapped Anyway?

Plug time: In Swapped, Jordan voices Ollie, a woodland critter (yes, really) who somehow ends up swapping bodies with a bird called Ivy. These two, who started out as mortal enemies, have to team up and embark on a classic odd-couple adventure through the valley. There are laughs, hijinks, and, that's right—family-friendly fun, so the nieces and nephew could actually come along this time.

  • Jordan’s family affair: Red carpet with niece and nephew for Swapped
  • Fatherhood plans: Maybe one day, but don’t hold your breath—he’s still at the plant-and-dog stage
  • Main takeaway: He genuinely loves being an uncle, especially when he can hand the kids back and catch his breath

Basically, Michael B. Jordan gets all the adorable moments and none of the permanent mess—at least for now. Sounds reasonable to me.
