Mia Goth shares her thoughts on working with Christopher Nolan for The Odyssey, describing the experience as truly unforgettable. The film features Matt Damon as Odysseus and a star-studded cast.

Mia Goth has found herself rather taken with her time on Christopher Nolan’s latest venture, The Odyssey. The upcoming epic, set in the world of Ancient Greece, left a lasting impression on her.

“That was one of the greatest experiences of my life. It really was. It was profound,”

she remarked, speaking to The Hollywood Reporter.

“I’ve been such a fan of Nolan's work for years. And so to have that opportunity and to witness him and how he directs was incredible. I took a lot from that. The trust that he has in actors was enlightening.”

The Odyssey, as the title suggests, follows the legendary journey of Odysseus, King of Ithaca, as he attempts to return home after the Trojan War. His path is anything but straightforward, with the gods themselves throwing obstacles in his way. Matt Damon steps into the role of Odysseus, while Tom Holland appears as Telemachus, his son. Anne Hathaway portrays Penelope, Odysseus’ long-suffering wife, and the ensemble is rounded out by the likes of Robert Pattinson, Jon Bernthal, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, and Charlize Theron.

On Set with Nolan

Goth takes on the part of Melantho, a favoured maid in Penelope’s household. While Odysseus is off contending with monsters and the whims of the gods, Penelope is left to manage the palace and fend off a persistent crowd of suitors. Melantho, as played by Goth, is caught up in the intrigue and tension that fills the halls of Ithaca during her master’s absence.

It’s not just Goth who’s been singing the praises of the production. Matt Damon, who leads the cast, has also spoken about the impact the project had on him.

“I can say, without hyperbole, that it was the best experience of my career,”

Damon said last year.

“I saw the [Trojan] horse on the beach and I was just like, 'Fuck.' It was just so cool.”

Anticipation Builds

The Odyssey is set to arrive in cinemas on 17 July, and anticipation is already running high. With a cast of this calibre and Nolan at the helm, expectations are anything but modest. The film promises a fresh take on Homer’s classic tale, blending spectacle with the director’s trademark attention to detail.

For those eager to see what else the year has in store, there’s no shortage of upcoming releases vying for attention. Yet, for many, it’s Nolan’s Greek epic that stands out as the one to watch.
