Prime Video’s new RoboCop series has found its Alex Murphy — a Legion and The Guest star suiting up for duty.

Well, here's one you probably didn't have on your remake bingo card for 2026: Dan Stevens is suiting up as RoboCop for a fresh Prime Video series. Yes, that RoboCop – the 80s action cult icon with a police badge and a hydraulic punch.

Dan Stevens will play Alex Murphy and RoboCop in the upcoming Prime Video TV series.

The project is coming from Peter Ocko, who's running the show, and the producers at Blumhouse (Atomic Monster). Details are still pretty thin – apparently it's still early days, so don't expect a load of intricate plot breakdowns just yet. But the basics are all locked in: Stevens is taking over as Alex Murphy, the unlucky cop turned cybernetic goliath, in a full series for streaming.

To spell it out: this is a brand new TV entry, not a revival of the half-forgotten spin-offs from years ago, and it's the first time we've had an actor like Stevens – best known for things like Legion and Downton Abbey – stepping into the metal boots.

Peter Ocko on showrunning duties is a somewhat interesting pick – he's done everything from genre shows to the oddball comedy, so interpret that as you will. Blumhouse getting involved suggests a darker, maybe more pulpy direction (no guarantees – Blumhouse also dabbles in all sorts).

No word yet on when this RoboCop series will actually hit Prime Video or start filming, but the casting is official. If you're after something more than the usual remake or reboot, this could have a bit of bite.
