Kevin Feige Says X-Men Casting Hasn’t Started, Dampens Adam Driver Rumours

Rumours about the X-Men MCU reboot have been swirling for ages, and one of the more persistent bits of internet chatter has pinned Adam Driver — yes, him from Star Wars and basically every awards-season headline — as a leading contender for a part. But Marvel boss Kevin Feige has just tossed a rather large spanner in the works.

Feige Drops the Curtain

Feige, chatting to Happy Sad Confused host Josh Horowitz, was pushed for a straight answer on Driver and the MCU's X-Men plans. After months (years, even) of speculation about who Driver might be playing — Mister Sinister has been a particular favourite among the rumour-mongers, with a few whispers about William Stryker thrown in for good measure — Feige finally spelled things out: Marvel has indeed reached out to Driver, more than once in fact, but he simply isn’t interested. It’s not a ‘he was too busy’ brush-off or a ‘creative differences’ chestnut, but a flat pass from Driver.

Feige even admitted he’d like to see Driver in the vault, saying the door’s still open. But at this point, the ‘Adam Driver as the MCU’s next big villain’ narrative doesn’t hold much water.

Other Rumoured X-Men Names

Driver isn’t the only noteworthy name being dragged through the online casting mill for Jake Schreier’s impending X-Men reboot. For your rumour-tracking convenience, here’s where things stand:

• Patrick Wilson (fresh from Aquaman and always the best thing about The Conjuring) is being buzzed about as a potential Professor X.
• Inde Navarrette (from Obsession) and Odessa A'zion (Marty Supreme) are in the speculation crosshairs for Rogue.

So far, Marvel hasn't locked in any release window for Schreier’s X-Men outing. Until someone signs on a dotted line, don’t expect any of these whisper campaigns to solidify.
