Jason Statham returns to the big screen this January, stepping into the shoes of a hardened loner in the upcoming thriller, Shelter. Under the direction of Ric Roman Waugh—whose previous credits include Shot Caller and Greenland—Statham’s latest outing promises a tense, high-stakes ride, with the British action star once again at the centre of a storm, both literal and figurative.

Statham’s character, a man with a shadowy history, finds himself drawn out of seclusion when a violent tempest sweeps across a remote coastal island. Director Ric Roman Waugh has not held back in his praise for Statham’s performance, remarking that the film finds the actor “at his best,” and promising audiences a turn that will “blow your mind and will win your heart over.” Naomi Ackie, who stars alongside Statham, described the project as “so much fun” and a “classic,” underscoring the film’s blend of excitement and emotional depth.

Shelter is just one of several action-packed projects on Statham’s slate. He’s set to appear in Mutiny, The Beekeeper 2, and will reunite with Guy Ritchie and Vinnie Jones for Viva La Madness.
