Colter, who played Luke Cage back in the Netflix era of Marvel shows (remember when the Defenders universe actually felt like it was leading somewhere?), was recently at MegaCon Orlando. And of course, he got hit with the same question he’s probably heard every day since Disney+ became a thing: is he coming back as Luke Cage or not?

Here’s what he told the crowd, according to Collider’s Maggie Lovitt, who moderated the panel:

'If it happens, it happens. Charlie [Cox] really likes doing Daredevil, and he’s always trying to chat with me about coming back, so I was happy for him to have a chance to revisit that role. And yes, I’d like to come back and do more stuff with Luke Cage, but there’s also so much more story to tell with other characters. It’s just one piece of the things that I want to do. So when I say that I want to come back and do it for the fans, I genuinely do, because they deserve to see the scripts that were written but not produced.'

So basically: he’s open to it, but he’s got other things on his plate, and Marvel’s not exactly banging down his door right now.

Where’s Luke Cage Now? Still In Harlem, Apparently

That said, Colter did confirm the MCU version of Luke Cage is still out there living his best bulletproof life in Harlem—at least as far as he knows. (Good luck getting Marvel to actually say it out loud, though.)

Wait, Isn’t Jessica Jones Coming Back In Daredevil: Born Again? So...

Here’s where things get a little more interesting for Marvel nerds:

• Krysten Ritter, AKA Jessica Jones, is heavily rumored to show up in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2
• That led to a lot of speculation that Colter’s Luke Cage would also cameo—let’s be real, people shipped them in the comics and on the show
• Some reports even claim Finn Jones (Iron Fist himself) might join the fun
• But as of now, Marvel hasn’t officially confirmed any of these cameos
