How many episodes is The Hawk on Netflix
Will Ferrell finally has his golf show — and if you're wondering how much of a commitment it is, the answer is a tidy one.
The short answer
The Hawk is 10 episodes, all released at once on Netflix on 16 July 2026. Ferrell stars as Lonnie "The Hawk" Hawkins, golf's world number one back in 2004, now chasing one last major to complete the career Grand Slam — long after everyone around him has decided he's finished.
Netflix's own tease for the trailer put it neatly:
"There are plenty of GOATs, but only one Hawk."
What it's about
Lonnie's body is telling him to retire. His heart isn't listening. His ex-wife thinks he's done, and so does his son Lance — inconveniently, golf's new golden boy. The comedy comes from a man who refuses to believe he's anything other than one stroke away from the greatest comeback in the sport's history. The PGA Tour is an official partner on the series, so expect real tournaments in the background, including scenes shot at the Phoenix Open.
Who's in it
The cast doubles as a Saturday Night Live reunion:
- Will Ferrell — Lonnie "The Hawk" Hawkins, washed-up legend and co-creator of the series.
- Molly Shannon — reuniting with Ferrell on screen after decades of SNL history.
- Jimmy Tatro — Lance, Lonnie's son and the sport's rising star.
- Luke Wilson — playing a character called Golden; his brother Owen has his own golf comedy in Stick, on Apple TV.
- Fortune Feimster, Chris Parnell, Katelyn Tarver, and David Hornsby — rounding out the ensemble.
Ferrell created the show with Harper Steele and Chris Henchy, with Rian Johnson among the executive producers and David Gordon Green directing episodes.
Why it took so long
The series was first announced back in April 2023 and spent years in development under the working title Golf, originally with Ramy Youssef attached as co-creator and co-star. Youssef exited in August 2025 over creative differences, the show was retitled The Hawk in March 2026, and filming ran from 8 September to 17 December 2025 in Los Angeles.
How long will it take to watch?
Individual episode runtimes haven't been officially confirmed, but as a streaming comedy season, expect the full run to sit comfortably in the four-to-five-hour range. One lazy Sunday, in other words.
For the record: Ferrell has already conquered NASCAR (Talladega Nights), figure skating (Blades of Glory), and basketball (Semi-Pro). Golf was simply the last major left.
