How many episodes are in Power Book III: Raising Kanan season 5? The final-season count

The final season runs for eight episodes.

Season 5 premiered on Friday 12 June 2026, opening with an episode titled "By Blood". New episodes drop weekly on Fridays on the Starz app and all Starz on-demand platforms, with the linear broadcast at 8pm ET — putting the series finale on 31 July 2026.

That eight-episode order is a step down from the show's usual rhythm. Every previous season ran ten episodes, which means the complete series will close out at 48 episodes across five seasons, from the July 2021 premiere to this summer's send-off.

What the final season has to resolve

Showrunner Sascha Penn has said Raising Kanan was always planned as a five-season story, and that this last run will answer every outstanding question. There's plenty on the list:

• Raq's fate — season 4 ended with Kanan pointing a gun at his mother's head, a cut to black, and a single gunshot. The season 5 trailer settled it: Raq (Patina Miller) is alive, and mother and son are heading into all-out war.
• The rise of Breeze — Shameik Moore joins as a series regular, playing the Southside legend Power fans have heard about since 2014 but never met on screen.
• The Jukebox question — Penn has promised the season explains how Kanan ends up killing Jukebox decades later in the original Power.
• The Thomas family reckoning — Unique, the Mafia, and a drug business on the brink of collapse.

Moore knew exactly what he was walking into. As he put it in his casting statement in 2025:

"It was a fun challenge to find Breeze's unique identity."

Is this the end of the Power universe?

No. Two further spinoffs, Origins and Legacy, are in the works, both drawing on characters from the original series. Raising Kanan is closing a chapter, not the book.

Starz's own synopsis frames it best — this isn't the end for Kanan Stark. For the monster fans first met in Power, it's just the beginning.
