Michael Mann is properly back on his crime epic game with Heat 2, and the cast list just keeps getting more interesting. Word from Variety is that Stephen Graham—you probably remember him from Venom or anything proper British and gritty—has now signed onto the Amazon MGM Studios feature, supposedly joining a line-up that already includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Christian Bale, Adam Driver, Jason Clarke, and Odessa Young. Not all those deals are quite wrapped up, but that's the crowd they're aiming for.

The Story: Past, Present, and In Between
Heat 2 is going for both a prequel and a sequel, folding together timelines between 1988 and 2000 and giving you different snapshots of these characters across the years. The first bit’s set in 1988 Chicago, following Vincent Hanna as he tracks down a seriously nasty gangster, while McCauley’s crew lines up a big job. Fast-forward to right after the original film ends in 1995—Chris Shiherlis (McCauley’s right-hand man) is on the run from Hanna after surviving that massively botched bank heist. By 2000, the chase is still on: Hanna pursues Otis Wardell, and Chris is hiding out in South America, getting mixed up with new criminal players out there.
