Hayden Christensen Keen to Reprise Darth Vader in New Star Wars Project
Hayden Christensen has voiced his enthusiasm for a potential Darth Vader-led Star Wars film or series, while also confirming his return as Anakin Skywalker in the upcoming second season of Ahsoka.
Hayden Christensen, best known for his portrayal of Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader, has made it clear that he is eager to step back into the iconic black armour. During a recent appearance at Fan Expo Chicago, the actor was asked about the possibility of leading a dedicated project centred on the legendary Sith Lord.
“I would love to, yeah. So if the powers that be decide that that’s something they want to see, I’d be there in a heartbeat,”
he remarked, drawing a warm response from the audience.
Christensen’s return to the Star Wars universe after a lengthy absence was met with considerable excitement. He reprised his dual roles in the Obi-Wan Kenobi miniseries, appearing both as the menacing Vader and, through flashbacks and visions, as the younger Anakin. This marked his first on-screen appearance in the galaxy far, far away in nearly two decades, and fans were quick to embrace his comeback.
Return to the Star Wars Spotlight
Following his stint in Obi-Wan Kenobi, Christensen once again donned the Jedi robes for the Ahsoka series. He appeared before Ahsoka Tano in the mysterious World Between Worlds, offering a blend of nostalgia and new intrigue for long-time viewers. The actor has now confirmed that he will reprise his role as Anakin in the second series of Ahsoka, though he remained tight-lipped about the details. Addressing fans at Star Wars Celebration in Japan, he shared,
“There’s not much that I can share, but Anakin will be back for season 2.”
This announcement has only fuelled speculation about the direction of the new episodes and the extent of Anakin’s involvement. Christensen’s understated approach to spoilers has kept anticipation high, with many eager to see how his character’s journey will unfold.
Vader’s Enduring Legacy
Should the opportunity arise for Christensen to embody Vader once more, he has clear ideas about how the character should be portrayed. Reflecting on the depiction of the Sith Lord in Rogue One, he expressed admiration for the film’s approach.
“I loved how they portrayed Darth Vader in that film,”
he told attendees at Fan Expo Boston. He went on to acknowledge the collaborative nature of bringing such a complex figure to life, adding,
“There are so many different people that have contributed to this character, and I’m just one of them. I loved what they did.”
Christensen’s comments highlight his respect for the legacy of Vader and his enthusiasm for contributing further to the character’s story. With his confirmed return in Ahsoka and a clear willingness to take on new projects, the actor’s future in the Star Wars universe remains a subject of much interest among fans and industry watchers alike.
